Default Exhausted

It seems about an hour or two after my workouts I'm exhausted. I need atleast a 2 or 3 hour nap before I can even function. Some people are saying this is from lack of protein and carbs before working out. Any one else have this problem?

Are you working out for a long period of time or having a really heavy workout? Do you eat right after you are finished working out? It might be a good idea to call the doctor..

Are you drinking two cups of skim milk after the work out? Your body has to repair itself after a work out. A recent study done shows that more women lose more weight and gain more lean muscle by drinking 2 cups of skim milk after a workout than those that drink protein shakes.

I would try this for a week and see how you feel. I started to do it and I was bursting with energy and have definitely lost more!

It's usually on heavier workout days. I don't usually eat anything before and if I do its just a banana. After I don't eat until about noon or so. I work out at like 9. I'm just not hungry until then.

It is perfectly fine not to eat before working out, in fact a lot of doctors suggest not to if you do it in the morning. What it is not okay to do is to wait to eat until noon if you are working out at 9am. Your body has NO way to energize itself OR repair itself!!

You have got to start drinking some kind of protein within an hour after working out and also eating, even if it's just a slice of toast. You gotta do it or you'll be feeling miserable for the rest of your working out.

It is also not healthy to wait so long to eat. You should be eating every 2-4 hours during your awake hours.

I will be taking your advice starting tomorrow. I recently started working out in the morning. I have not been eating before and I have found that I feel nauseous and week afterwards and I definitely do not get that burst of energy everyone talks about. So I am hoping this helps! Thanks!

Yay! Good for you for working out for starters!! It's an awesome thing to work out in the mornings...you get it out of the way and just a few tips that have helped me!

1. If you work out early enough, try not to eat before you do. Your body is then forced to burn fat for energy.

2. Make sure you are getting 6-8 hours (preferrably 8) of sleep.

3. The skim milk is great! For a little flavor I add just a VERY VERY small dash of Hershey's LIGHT Chocolate syrup. I absolutely abhor milk but with that small dash, I can down it in two seconds. =) I then eat breakfast (usually cereal w/ flax or two eggs) and I have energy the entire day =)

I'm no doctor, I'm just telling you what works for me and what has really helped me get that extra step on losing weight. It truly is my morning routine and all the research I've done has led me to these conclusions!

xo
