Default diet & exercise

When dieting I know its best to exercise which is why I started doing some 2 wks ago. However, I have looked around and am confused as to how often and how much exercise I should be doing. Can anyone help?? At the moment I have managed 30 mins in 2 x 15min stints. I started off with step aerobics at home and have now started some fitned videos as well. Is this enough?? I walk a fair bit in doing general stuff around the home.

I.m no expert (haven't been down a gym - can't afford it yet). However I have heard that you should exercise solidly for 20 mins -whatever you are doing - running/aerobics etc. Ask down a gym they should have someone you can ask. Basically you have to get your heart racing (a choccie bar does that for me!)
