I am also at the same stage of the game as you are and I've discovered adding nuts and berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries) to my cooking that it staves off a carb binge. I would avoid bread for a long while even though eventually you will have to incorporate it again. If you discover that the carb you ate is giving you cravings, then go drink 2 glasses of water, eat some protein and find something to do to take your mind off of it. Remember, the craving is your body's reaction to carbs and when the cravings pass, you'll feel better for having toughed it out!
