Default Swollen Itchy Hands during workout

I notice sometimes (not always) that my hands swell during exercise and sometimes accompanied by itchiness. What is this and is it ok?

I've noticed the same thing! Only rarely do they get itchy, but swollen is pretty common with me.

I've got no answers, but I'd definitely like to see what other memebers have to say!

Use to happen to me a lot as well, I've been told it is dehydration. I try to drink lots of water before my workouts and it has helped with swelling.

That's very interesting, thanks for the article. It's happened to me too but I have a disorder where I get hives so I thought it was from that.

My hands have always swelled when I walk but not when I'm running. From the article, I now understand why. Thank you so very much for the topic and the article.

Good info Ilene....

For swollen hands while walking long distance, Angie and I were told, when training for a marathon years ago, to walk with arms bent in a 90 degree angle with hands, knuckles, facing forward in a fist position...but not clinched!...thumbs on top of pointer finger...and pretend (or hold) you are holding a penny between them that you don't want to drop.

I understand the swollen, but not the itchy.
