Talking Just about anything

Hi everyone! i am looking to start this thread to meet some new and some old friends here so that we could talk about everything or anything - the important stuff and the not so important stuff - other than weight loss - not that the subject is taboo. I really need to make some more friends and since I don't have time in my "real" life I thought this thread would be a great start. I am a busy mom of three (9,7,5), a teacher and a wife. i would love people to join me that posting here would be a "highlight" of our day to just chat with our friends. So, please join! Fondly, KIM

Default Great idea.

Hi, Kim. I, too, am looking to make some friends, and am busy with just ONE kid! She's 3, and she's a handful. I don't have anything in particular I came here to discuss. What are your interests? I love to know about people's favorites.

My fav's

Favorite Movie: American Beauty

Favorite Song: Silent Lucidity

Favorite Actor: Robin Williams

Favorite Actress: Nicole Kidman

Favorite Book: White Oleander

Okay, enough about me. What do you like?

This sounds like fun. I can always use more friends. Let me see, a list of favorites, eh?

Favorite Movie: Somersby

Favorite Actors: Wesley Snipes/Denzel Washington/Richard Gere(sp?)

Favorite Actress: Julia Roberts

Favorite Author: Danielle Steel

I also have children 2 boys ages 5 and 6, and quite the handful. Between work, kids, and everyday life, not much time left over.

Well enough for now!!!!!!!!

Bye

hi Fish and New! I love Danielle Steele and I haven't been to an adult movie in about 2 years!!!! hard to believe, huh? Teenagers around here don't want to babysit much and mil always has a hard time with all three together. i love James Taylor and Carley Simon. School starts for us on Wed. I am always a nervous wreck the first day with my own new class and my own kids going! My kids go to school where I teach. I love it most of the time but sometimes it can be difficult being a teacher and a mom with my coworkers!!! I am looking foward to a calm year though - last year my hubby was laid off due to downsizing and it took him 6 months to find a good job then he ended up having hernia surgery and in the meantime we sold our house and then went thru one of the worst house closings in the history of selling homes. We decided to rent a house for a year just to get back on our feet. I know it wasn't too serious because the kids were happy and healthy and I was still working but it still made it tough for us - I guess I just have to toughen up a bit! LOL its wierd though now that things are better I still worry that something else will happen almost like I am preventing myself from enjoying what we have!!! What kind of work do you two do? To break the ice we could start with topics such as work! I love my job - I have been a teacher for 15 years. 11 of those years I worked in the inner city here but as I had more kids I needed to start thinking of the safety of my family and their needs and made the difficult decision to leave now I work in the 'burbs I still enjoy it but I still miss alot of the challenges from the inner city. The people I work with are nice in their superficial way and I enjoy chatting with them - but I always feel they hold me aloft because my children go to school there - though I would NEVER change that situation - it is awesome and my kids and I both appreciate it so far! Well, i am a real chatter bug so I better stop for now! Can't wait to hear from you! Fondly, KIM

Oh, Danielle Steel is wonderful. I love "Vanished." We actually found a movie of that for $3 at Wal-Mart. Of course, not anywhere near as good as the book.

Kim--what grade do you teach? Maybe I missed it, but I did look. What a wonderful profession. Teachers are often heros. In 7th grade, I used to like to pretend one of my teachers was my mother. <Blush!>

Crawfish--Is it hard having two boys close in age? I find raising one girl tough. I'm hoping to have a boy someday--but my daughter always has me thinking twice about that.

In response to your question 3mom, I just changed jobs and am now a Project Coordinator for a third party merchandising firm. I absolutely love it, and the best part is that we work with some major cosmetic companies and I get free makeup!!!

New I loved vanished also.... although I love almost all her books. I have read almost everything she has written. Yes 2 boys are a huge handfull, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

My one son started grade 1 last Tuesday and my youngest son starts senior kindergarten on Monday. So far the school year has gone off without a hitch.

Well must go, talk to you soon.

Smile Hello!!

Do your children have to be under 18 to join in the fun?

I thought I'd climb on board if its not too late.

I just changed jobs too, in June- My company bought another and our division moved to Texas. My dh says " If we're going to move somewhere hot, it's going to be FL" in case you're wondering.

I love to read too, often have 3 or more books going at a time, really enjoy reading on the bike or the treadmill- its guilt free!!

I'll read almost anything but especially favor biographies.

Favorite Movie- that 's tough, I have a few, but I guess Braveheart although Good Morning Vietnam was at the top of list for a long time.

I love Robin Williams too-

How wonderful to know what's really going on everyday at your children's school!!

I am still "fitting in " with folks at the new job too.

Well, thanks for listening!
