Default uh-oh! Not gonna "eyeball" my portions anymore!

Holy heck! Well I'm only 10 weeks out and still very much in the learning phase of my journey. I bought a food scale pre-op but truthfully--I haven't really ever used it. I've been "eyeballing" my portions, listening to my pouchie to tell me when its satisfied..still in my mind they are very tiny portions. So today I was online looking @ sum bariatric recipes. One poster advised about making sure to weigh the denser foods in particular. *on a side note I tried a ground turkey and tofu chili recipe that was thick, hearty, and sooo delicious. I decided to weigh what I had served myself and was surprised to see it was 5 oz and I hadn't even topped it w/ cheese yet! Wow! So I scooped some out and I'm so glad I decided to weigh it. For now, I am still learning what a proper portion size is and I'll be weighing out my portions more consistently now. Just wanted to share my "ah-ha moment" with ya'll. Oh and please 4give my textiness and typos, I'm posting this from my cell

My docs have been telling me about 1/4 cup. What weight have you been aiming for?

Lol my dietician actually gave me a small tea-cup as a present when I started eating food and said "This tea cup is to help you measure your food portion. You can eat a portion that fits this cup but not more."

Funny thing is I can barely eat half of it. Wow how small my stomach is. :P

Hey that was a nifty idea your dietician had! I like that So how many oz does the tea cup hold? Speaking of gifts...the bariatric clinic gave us all a gift as well...get this..a nice huge 32 ounce mug with the snap lid that u can open and close to sip from and inside a pedometer.. The only thing is in GINORMOUS proud purple letters it was emblazoned with the words BARIATRIC SURGERY GROUP...yeah like I'm taking that to work lmao!!! Way to be subtle ha! Shameless self -promotion hee hee guess its fine if a person wasn't trying to be discreet about their WLS.. its ok though its still a great mug

Around 2-2.5 oz.

Haha there is no discreet there. But I think that cup is so useful for the first days when liquids are only allowed. Due to the fact I did it in my country's general hospital, where people there are super extra careful, I was not discharged before I got to eat mushed food and the doctor and so they gave me a small cup and told me how much to drink and how often. But they too it away once I stopped liquids, wish they had let me keep it.
