Hello, I need some advice today.
For the last 6 months I have been doing some pretty intensive workouts. I do kettlebells 3x's a week and have lost about 25 inches but maybe only about 15lbs. My weight started at 328lbs and is now around 312lbs.
Since my workout is so intensive I am worried about rejoining WW. I am afraid that it might now allow for enough points on exercise days. Does anyone else here do intensive exercise and still use WW? I would love to hear your expereince and advice. Thanks so much!!!!
hey there. WOW kettlebells KILL...3x a week may eventually take a toll on your body but if you are working with a trainer or a professional they should have you on some kind of program to track your success...which it seems to be according to how you are measuring your results. first of all...congratulations on the loss so far!! inches say more than numbers, especially for those who are active. I enter in my activity points but sometimes realize that the stuff i do is more intense than the imput system they provide...i try to be as accurate as possible with it...equating kettlebells to maybe running or jogging for however many minutes (because it IS intense!). On your off days even though your workouts are intense, it helps to do some light cardio to keep up your active lifestyle daliy (i.e. walking 2 miles at your own pace, light cycling, etc.) i notice whenever i do intense kettlebell training i am ravenous so maybe talk to your trainer or whoever has you on program and tell them how WW works and if there is any other exercise you can incorporate in that is easier to log such as the eliptical, stairmaster, etc paired with strength training which you can log. good luck.
Hiyas, wow congrats on your inch loss! thats fantastic. i do weight watchers but dont work out nearly as hardcore as you do. I am working out for the first time inmy life though so its intensive for me lol! they have an option when working out points where you can say how active you are and allocate points that way. To be honest, on workout days im frequently up to 5 points over and im still loosing fine Id say just adjust your extra points per day to how intensivly youve worked out. If you do join you can talk to your leader about it and she will have some great advice.
I do not go to the meetings, but I do count points. I do a fitness bootcamp (45minutes), I run 1.5 miles (working my way up to a 5k), and then I walk 3-5 more in a day. In theory I should be getting about 3 activity points (AP) for the boot camp, 2AP for the running and then 1 AP per mile after that. So, I would "earn" about 9 a day (even though you cannot count over 4 AP a day). Sometimes on top of that I would do an extra boot camp. I am not really any more hungrier if I do all of that, if I eat quality food (no JUNK). However, I do try to get in a protein shake or meal a day to help with all of the work out. I have been struggling with my last ten pounds..... .BUT, it is partially my fault. I am addicted to the scale and I don't pay close attention to my points on the weekend.
I am sorry if this does not help. But, I do work out a lot and I am fine on points.
I might not be much help, but I'm currently doing the Insanity program (claims to be the 'hardest workout ever put on DVD') and I just started WW.
I am getting about 10 AP's a day, and so far, I've been eating all but a couple of them. The good thing is that on the new program for this year, you can 'bank' your AP's for the week, you don't have to eat them all in one day so if you are doing heavy exercise and get a lot of AP's, you can store them up for a while.

Wait, wait. Why can't you count over 4 AP a day? Nobody has ever told me that.....
To everyone, thanks so much for taking the time to respond. From my old WW info (about a year old) my AP for a 30 minute kettlebell workout would be 8points. So, I guess that wouldn't be too bad. But, if I did an hour workout it would be 14-15 ap's -wow.
I am going to track my points at home for a week or two and see how it goes.
charlottekelsey-In addition to 3 days of kettlebells I do 2 more days of a workout which is either yoga based or light cardio. I am also doing pushups 5 days a week. My trainer measures and weights me every month to track success in addition to tracking the weights I swing. That is why I think I must be eating way too much right now. Hopefully tracking points will help Thanks for your help!!
kristyjoy, my WW maybe older and outdated than the 2010 info. In 2008ish you could not use more than 4AP a day..... no matter what you earned. That was during the time where you could not bank..... all you could use is your 35 flex points a week.
Yeah, I believe that the AP banking was a recent change.
I work out a LOT and I earn a LOT of AP's every day. I'm under the impression I can use what I earn and bank them towards my weekly 35. It's working for me, so I guess it's ok, haha.
