Default High School Reunion?

I'm on the planning committee for our 10 year reunion, we are in the very early stages and we are just brainstorming at this point. Any input you guy have would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone ever planned a high school reunion?

If you have attended a reunion, what was it like? Did you enjoy yourself? Were the tickets expensive?

If you were going to your high school reunion, what kind of event would you like to attend?

thanks!

I just got the facebook invite for my 10 (my how times have changed).

I grew up in a resort town in the mountains and every class before us has gone white water rafting and then to the local brewery for food and bev.

My class (2000 woot!) is doing a tram ride up to a cavern and then a dinner, all for $25 a person.

Call around to local restaurants and see what kind of "per head" deal you can get. You could do a buffet for a set amount and then have a cash bar or build a couple of drink tickets into the per-head price. There's lots of ways to go around that.

As for what to do, what kind of town are you from? I think I would be mortified to do the typical "let's re-live the misery" and would just rather hang out with the people I grew up with.

On the other hand, I already see everyone I would want to from high school, so I don't know if I would go. We're all trying to talk each other into going

My son had his 10 year reunion last summer....they had a real nice dinner/dance at a fancy restaraunt in San Diego....

we live in a small town north of San Diego....

we graduated from the same high school...my 10 year reunion was many years ago

but when we did ours we...

FRIDAY NIGHT ~ met at a local pizza joint

SATURDAY NIGHT ~ had the nice dinner and dance at the local country club

SUNDAY ~ met at the park and brought our own picnic and "kids" if we had them...

I think mine was better!

I have been on the Grad committee for the 10 year, 20 year, 25 year, 30 year and in Oct the 35th year

Over the years we have found that a friday night with just grads, no spouses was the best.(unless they travelled from a long way) Also we hold it at a local golf club in a nice room catered with appetizers. Price has been $25 each for the last 3 reunions.
We don't put out tables, it seems to work better if the grads can mix and talk to each other all night. Tables make it too clique like and people don't seem to move.
It's been fun I can't wait till our 40th

Ugh...the idea of high school reunions makes me feel like zits are coming on again and the horror of going in the cafeteria and nobody letting you sit with them, so you end up sitting alone, leaving you an open target for the zit faced kid with bad breath to come and hit on you. high school made me feel worthless and beneath everyone...so i wouldn't go to mine if it were across the street.

But...have fun at yours!

Thanks guys, right now we are leaning towards a casual type setting and there is lots of talk of a pig roast. I'm excited to start planning.

On a side note: I was a huge dork in high school, that's what makes it so weird that I'm on the planning committee. If it weren't for my best friend talking me into the whole planning thing, I don't know that I would attend either.

I am on the planning committee for my 25th this year...whoa where did the time go?

I am from a very small town in the Midwest so there aren't many of us to begin with and many moved far away so if we have 25-30 people there it will be a blessing. So far just planning a really nice dinner at a local tourist spot that has great food.

Best of luck with your planning!

I'm 3 years short of what would be my 20th reunion (uhh yikes?). I've never gone to any of my reunions and really have no interest in going. I had a friend who went though and they said they had 2 events, a family event and an adult event. The family event was a bbq at a local park. The adult event was dinner at a restaurant, I think. That was the 10 year reunion.
