Default Appointment to start Medifast today, what to expect

So my husband and I are finally going to take the plunge into getting on a diet. We both need to loose about 50 pounds. My husband is a driver and has a class A or B license can't rememember exactly what it is but he has to pass a physical to renew his license. He has borderline hypertension and his physician has been telling him for years that he needs to lose weight. We have never really tried, joined a gym last year and haven't gone due to other reasons which would take two many lines to write about so I'll get to the point.
Is there a contract that will be signed? if so what does it contain? It sounds like cost is about $300 for 4 weeks. Is it possible to buy 4 weeks and split it between my husband and I just to try it out and buy half the shakes for him and half the shakes for myself since they are different?
Since my husband is on the road from 6am -5pm most all his meals will be prepared in a delivery water truck. I plan on putting hot and cold water in a thermos but my guess is that the consistency or lumps might be a problem for him on the road. I can premix prior to packing his lunch but not sure how they will come out prior to him drinking his shakes.
I just don't know what to expect today. Will there be regular meetings that he has to show up to? lab work? doctors visits? It's hard enough for him to come home at a decent hour much less trying to fit other stuff into his schedule.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Hello and congratulations on making what I think will be a very wise decission.
Let's of questions. I don't know how you are signing up. Thru a center on the Medifast site or with a TSFL health coach. I don't think there is an contract to sign you just place your food order.

Depending on where you sign up there are different discounts and plans to take advantage of. If you order 4 weeks to split after one week you will need to order again because depending on where you live it can take about a week to get the food. There are advantages to each ordering a months worth on different accounts.

I think premixing may be a good idea. Using a shaker cup there should not be problems with lumps but the soups are better if they are soaking longer to rehydrate. Mixing the powders in a truck may get messy.

Again I don't know where you are signing up. Some do hold local meetings. I don't have any in my area. We do not have a MF center either or any doctors that use the program.

You should always let your doctor know what you are doing and continue you have regular visits for blood work and medication checks etc. As you lost weight many of the meds will need adjusting.

Hope that helps. Good luck to you both.

Love Medifast because it works!

It is a bit more expensive, but I would reccomend purchasing the ready to drink (RTD) shakes for your husband. I like them both room temp or chilled, so you could freeze some of them so that they thaw throughout the day. This will take away the hassle of having to carry around all of those pre-mixed containers and the worry of lumps. PLUS, I think that the chocolate ones taste better than the powder packets anyway.

Another great option for him would be some of the crunch bars which serve as a meal and do not require mixing or refridgeration and are great for on the go. There are lots of snack type foods that can be used as meal replacement such as the new pretzel and cracker meals which help satisfy someone who enjoys savory vs. sweet (like myself).

Best of luck to both of you!

After a year of trying to do it by myself with miserable results, I started Medifast on January first, and have lost 15 pounds (woohoo!), so I definitely agree that it's easy and it works.

Don't know if you are going through Medifast directly, or through a Take Shape for Life coach, which is what I did. My coach signed me up for the BeSlim club, which is free, and you get free shipping on orders over $250 (I think) and discounts which go up the longer you're in the club. I think you can quit at any time without penalty, but I would ask to make sure. When you start, you normally get a variety pack, but I'm allergic to eggs, so my coach and I chose an "a la carte" pack. I would think that you and your husband could do the same for the first order and split it.

I second the recommendation on the bars (super yummy and convenient) and the pretzels and cheese puffs. The shakes are pretty easy too, if your husband has bottled water, he could just take along a shaker jar and mix on the spot.

Good luck!
