Default Am I just odd?

So this weekend I looked at myself in someone else's mirror and I was like okay, wow - I really look smaller. And it weirded me out. Its a good weird, I guess, its just all of a sudden I started to look and FEEL smaller and its just throwing me for a loop.

Does anyone else feel like this?

Yes, I had phases like that. It wasn't always a one-directional ride, though. I could feel fantastic and skinny, and then go through a "fat" phase.

For me, I consider the "good" days reality, and the "bad" days as hormonal aberrations

I had the same thing happen to me a couple weeks ago!! I was at Charlotte Russe standing the the fitting rooms waiting for my friend to try on some clothes on. I happened to catch a glance of myself in the mirror at the end of the isle and I almost didn't recognize myself. When I looked back and examined myself a little more I seemed look so much smaller than I did in my mirrors at home. I don't know what it is...but you're not the only one!

And as far as FEELING smaller...it happened to me on NYE. We were at a bar in Columbus...I was with a lot of my skinny girl friends...and for the first time in YEARS, I felt normal....I didn't feel like the "fat friend". It was a weird feeling, but I LOVED IT.

What an amazing feeling! I'm sure you had a good day that day! haha

I felt that the weekend before last. Hubby and I went to the mall to look around and for something to do. I passed a mirror (I can't remember where it was) and I thought, that's not me. I had to actually stop and back up to look again. (here comes the silly part) Then I was convinced that the mirror was wrong. So I call hubby to come back and look at the mirror. After looking at it, he says "what?" I ask him, Is that mirror right? Do you look normal? He gives me this look and says, Yes it's normal. Why? I had to ask him to step aside so I could look again. I trust him that it was normal, but I am still convinced that silly mirror was wrong... how? I dunno.

stargzr--LOL that's so funny because I was convinced that the mirrors at charlotte russe were wrong haha! I thought maybe put trick mirrors in there to make you look better so you're more likely to buy something

Yeah it happened to me too a while ago! I was happy that I was thinner and thought i was adjusting to it well, but still had issues not knowing what gaps I could fit through etc

I don't think my brain will allow me to catch that glimpse, but I do feel it sometimes. When I have been good and on track (for a while) I'll wake up in the morning feeling skinnier, knowing that I've lose weight before I get on the scale. Rare/good feeling.

It's so funny that you posted this! The other day, I looked in the mirror and thought, "Hey, you look smaller!"--and I know it wasn't that I thought I looked nice or anything, because I was dressed way down--in fact I was wearing a shirt that I think is quite unflattering--so even though I didn't think I looked good or nice (because of my clothes), I know I looked smaller!

I go through these phases. Once I lost 15lbs, I started getting comments on my weightloss (I personally LOVE that people notice, I know these comments make some people self conscious). After that, I really noticed a difference in the mirror compared to pictures that were just a few months old. A few months ago, I'd avert my eyes from mirrors, now I spend 5 minutes examining myself from different angles and poses, haha. Before, I wouldn't even walk around my apartment in revealing clothes. Now, I've been spending weekends in my underwear, haha.

However, I truly believe "fat days" are just a scientific fact for women. I have days where I just look bloated even if the scale says I'm still losing. I just blow it off.

I will say though, even on the days when I'm bursting with self-love, I can go shopping and every single dressing room mirror just makes me look awful. For some reason there's like a spotlight on every blob of fat, every pimple, every stretch mark, etc in those mirrors. I don't know what causes this phenomenon, but it gets me every time.

i have a skinny mirror. Its concaved just a tad and it makes you feel so good!!! And i think they do use those in the charlotte russe dressing rooms LOL.

I havent gotten to the point where I feel like i look smaller, but i have noticed that my stomach doesn't stick out quite as far as it did at my highest!

I haven't had that experience with mirrors but with pictures. I'm used to looking at pictures of myself and thinking oh wow I thought I looked skinny that night.... But then when I've really lost weight and I see full pictures of myself (typically taken when I'm too drunk to care lol), I think WOW look at my arms/thighs they're so skinny!!!!!!! lol And I'll just go through those pictures again and again...

But lately I have been taking a long time looking at myself in the mirror whenever I go to the bathroom lol - it's exciting to see yourself slimmer!!! I keep looking and thinking - does my butt REALLY look smaller? Well how about from this angle? This angle, ok fine, but what about this one? Hm, ok, maybe I am slimmer! Yaaay =)

Mirrors work in strange ways. I always look big in my own mirrors, but smaller in others--I think it's because other mirrors are so much bigger! When I look in my tiny full-length all I see is me, taking up the entire frame. But when I'm in a store or someone else's house that actually have room for the surroundings, I see myself in comparison to other objects and people. It's the same with photos--I'm always surprised by how much smaller I am in photos than I think I should be!
