Default Homemade Protein Bars That Taste Good?!

Hello All!

I remember reading a msg in one of these threads about homemade protein bars that actually taste good. I couldn't find the recipe in the recipe section.

Could someone let me know which category it might be under??

3 days/week I need to take a portable breakfast to work and the hard boiled eggs are starting to get to me! LOL

I tried a couple of the EAS low carb bars - not too bad - but worried about eating them because I've read that some of the ingredients can stop weight loss? ( something called sugar alcohols? aren't these carbs too? don't they count?)

THANKS! Terri

Terri, I posted one a long time ago and can't find it. But this is what I use. They are more like pancakes or can be made into small "cookies". Bear in mind that these are not low carb.

1/2 cup oatmeal (uncooked)
1 scoop protein powder
splenda or sweet n low to taste
cinnamon to taste
~Now mix these first 4 ingredients together, then add:
1/2 cup cottage cheese (i use ff)
1/2 cup eggbeaters or equivalent in eggs
dash of vanilla
Sometimes I will also add in chopped apple to the mix or I'll add a few blueberries to the cookies before I turn them over. These are great warm.

Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Spray non-stick griddle or pan with Pam spray (butter flavor is nice).
You can pour all of the mixture on the pan to make a large pancake or drop by spoonful to make approx 7-8 small cookies. (I prefer these) . Cook like you would a pancake. When bottom is golden brown, carefully flip over to cook other side.

Some people have added other flavorings such as alittle cocoa powder to the mix.If you add this, omit the cinnamon.

Hope you enjoy
~~~Sil
There are a couple of recipes in the Low Carb Recipe Section - one by Giggles under miscellaneous and another one for lemon bars that looks pretty good. Do a search with the word bars.
