Hi ladies,

No time to post this morning. I've got to get outside and check on Bud, the old horse. He's been sick. I've got to get cough medicine in him, which he absolutely hates.

I'm still around. Just not doing much to help myself.

to all!

Terri- Good luck with Bud and thanks for starting the new thread!

I had a busy time this weekend trying to clear out a flower bed. I think no one had tackled it for decades. What a mess. I hope I got all the weeds. I also planted some bulbs (though it's a bit late for here). We'll see.

Managed to stay on plan, so I'm feeling like my candy binge from last week is over.

I got on the scale yesterday afternoon and it was lower than when I got on this morning. I hate when that happens!!

Good morning ladies,

Quickie post again this morning. Bud is sick with a sinus infection. Poor baby! I completely understand how he feels too!

Yesterday was a very good OP day. Kept my calories to 1738. And I didn't feel like I was being deprived either. This morning, I was up and did some strength training. Some is a start. It actually felt good.

I was listening to FitGirl podcast yesterday and it was quite helpful. You know the old saying, practice makes perfect? Well, she said we should remember that practice makes permanent. Which makes more sense 'cause we certainly don't need to get stuck in that "must be perfect" mindset. Also she said that cardio is great for building lung and your heart but its strength training that is going to get your body to burn the fat. Strength training breaks down the muscles more which takes more calories to repair and rebuilt which in turn burns more fat. Its all about balance.

Time to go get Bud out of the barn and back to the pasture. Then shower time and off to work for another fun filled day.

to all!

Terri -- Glad to hear you practicing!!!

It's quiet here, huh? How's everyone doing? Don't bottle it in, it doesn't help!!

I fell into some chocolate yesterday -- let something get to me that I shouldn't have. But I wrote it down and stayed within my calories. Today's challenge is lunch out with some students and colleagues. I still don't know where we're going. But I've got a gym visit scheduled for later this afternoon, so hopefully that will help.

Good morning all you delightfully juicy women!

It's too early to zero-in on my state of being this morning...I can hear the trash being collected outside...it's 45 degrees outside...the steel cut oats are bubbling away...my dishwasher wants to be emptied...I'm trying to think of something I want to look forward to for the day...besides housework and errands...

I've got a new recipe I'm going to try for dinner. It's from the Kashi website, an Autumn Kashi Pilaf Salad with White Pumpkin and Cranberries. But I don't have everything, so I'm trading out the pumpkin for acorn squash, and the cranberries for pomegranite seeds. I'm testing it out for T-day.

I'm in the mood to sew lately. My older son is now into the steampunk, which is sort-of like a neo-Victorian look, so I'm thinking that for Christmas I should make him a brocade vest and turn-of-the-last-century shirt to go with. He can wear that with jeans or slacks. I'm afraid if I went ahead and made him the long jacket and trousers he'd got to school with a top hat, looking like Johnny Depp (only much taller and more pimply).

So, that inspires me to go fabric shopping soon, to San Francisco!

Okay, I'm ready to start my day. Ciao, bellas!

Hi Ladies!

Just popping in for a quick hello! Mon and Tues are usually pretty hectic for me. One of my biggest fears in this journey seems to have come true....injury. Last night I took a group boot camp at the gym. I loved it and got a great workout. Unfortunately I must a pushed my limits for my knee (old, old injuries). It's really painful today. I'm icing it and keeping it elevated and praying it's just a minor, minor thing.

Ahhh....too much work. Wish I could chat more.

Later gals...

I seem to be on a mission today, to rid the planet of all carbs. By eating them. Doing a good job of it too!

I'm cold and hungry. I tried some hot broth, tea, drank water. I'm wearing warm clothes. I had steel cut oats for breakfast. And some protein. And then some whole wheat toast. And then some pinto beans. See, lots of fiber, plenty of liquids, had some protein...still hungry. Had a potato. Drank grapefruit juice. Still hungry. Tried waiting between "courses", 30 minutes to an hour. Still hungry.

Don't know what's going on.

Doing better now. I had a piece of salmon and that seemed to kill the "hunger". Maybe I'll be too full to eat for the rest of the day.

I'm feeling your vibes today, Barb. Thanks!

I had a house full of boys last night. Sleepover, complete with hide-n-seek-in-the-dark, hours on the XBox shooting aliens, ceaseless giggling and classic fart jokes. It was good to hear my 12-year-old laugh like that again. They're all still asleep, so I'm sneaking off to the market for breakfast goodies and a brief stop at Starbucks.

I've been getting some of my calcium from dairy again, having an occasional nonfat cafe latte, or using nonfat dry milk in my coffee at home. And I'm eating a little goat cheese too. I seem to be tolerating all that just fine.

Yesterday's carb bender is over. I quit eating around 2 and didn't feel like another morsel the rest of the day. I didn't wake up hungry and showed a slight loss on the scale as well. Maybe my body just needed it. I'm very glad I don't have a pantry and fridge full of easily accessible junk food. I could have done some real damage yesterday!

Cheers! Have a lovely Veteran's Day!

Wednesday already and my first post here this week. Still making good choices food wise - loving my exercise. I really feel I'm in transition from my health choices moving from food based to exercise based. It's a liberating feeling and quite unbelievable for me. I'm not really sure what all this means - I'm trying to sort out some type of balance.

Barb - so great to see you popping in - I need to wave more often when I'm lurking. I've made your protein pancakes a few times - still trying variety but so far my favorite is with low sugar orange marmalade.

Georgia - sounds like a fun time. I was thinking in a few years we'll see what the changes are by the time Barb is hosting sleepovers for her boys when they are the age of your guys.

Keep up the great things that are happening here!

Hi Gals!!

A pretty good day around here. I needed a few more of my positive vibes with food. However, all said and done I was ok on calories. Just had some of that emotional crap going on...need to feel full...food as comfort...you know what I mean. Thankfully I controlled it.

I met with my trainer today...however didn't work out. My knee is still pretty sore, although a lot better. I'm hopeful that I'll be doing light workouts the next couple days and will be on my bike Sunday. So, we spent over an hour talking....going over some of my recent frustrations, stress, etc. Thinking about a new game plan, tossed around exercise thoughts, etc. It was a much needed sit down. He also did updated body comp measurements. Once my knee heals and I'm back to normal exercise he wasnts to actually up my calories a little more and see how my body reacts. At this point I'm game to try anything.

Geo - sounds like a fun time with the boys! I was thinking EXACTLY what Carol said....I'm sure before I know it I'll have a houseful of boys doing the same things.

I'm off for now...so much to still do before I hit the sheets.

Sweet Dreams Gals!

Good Morning Beautiful Chickies!

No babysitting kids today so I am going to the GYM! Yeah! Its been several months. Ive been walking and working out at home once or twice a week which is really not enough. But right now I am thinking the $$ is not as important as getting fit! So this leads to some bugetary juggling!

Terri, Hope Bud is feeling better.

Heather, I also let things get to me, get under my skin, bother me and most of the time its nothing that I can control or change. But I can control how I react to it! Hard to do but that is where the practice comes into play!

Georgia how do you cope with the changeing styles teens want to explore? My dh is soooo conservative he thinks he is going to be able keep the kids from dressing in anything but blue jeans and tees. With close cropped hair. I keep preping him for when the kids want to express and experiment. But cause he didn't he thinks his wont... right! ha now just read your post about the sleep over you sound like you are such a fun mum! I get to stressed when my ds who is 13 has his friends over. Mostly since we just dont have alot of space we are in a 3br apt. But I just have to suck it up...I would rather them be here than who knows where?!?!?!

Carol you are such an inspiration for me to keep on keeping on! Thanks & Hugs!
