Default How did you find the transitation

Hi I am currently doing weight watchers and have lost 2 stone but it has taken me nearly 8 months and am thinking of chaning over to pure calorie counting. Has anyone made this change and how are you doing?

I have done both. About 5 years ago I did WW. I lost 12 lbs. but my weight loss leveled off and I felt like I was still paying money but gradually getting away from the basic principles. My fault entirely, but after a few months I just stopped going.

After my WW days, I gained 39 pounds. Now I am calorie counting and the weight loss rate is about the same, or slightly better. I do find it easier to count calories than to figure points. I now go to a church-based support group which helps me stay focused.

If you have grown tired of WW, then I commend you for looking for something else rather than stopping with no alternative plan. You are being much smarter than I was.

I tried WW and had no luck. I think they calculated the amount of points I could have wrong. I followed it religiously for over 2 months and lost maybe one pound. I even reduced my points and didn't have much luck.

Calorie counting has been a lot easier for me. I use Fitday to track my calories and exercise, but there are other free sites like thedailyplate and sparkpeople. Having a food journal really makes me stop and think about what is going in my mouth.

HI there,

I'm currently doing WW's too ... and I'm also thinking of changing over. I've been successful in the past counting calories ... it's a truer measure, IMO, than WW's points.

Why is WW so slow at losing weight? Is counting calories the same way too?
