Default losing weight on vacation in uk, possible?

In 5 days I am going to England for a month, this will be my 3rd visit. The first time I went I managed to lose some weight (granted I was also only 145 pounds then) I say that weight loss was due to the fact I was hardly eating for fear of the food and walking everywhere, everyday.

the second time I spent most of the vacation inside and using buses taxis and trains to get places because it was winter and as someone from san diego, snow... is not in our vocabulary. As a result I didn't lose any weight for sure.

For the past few months I have been trying to get back down, In years I haven't gotten back up to 180 (my heaviest) but i started to tip toward 170, which frankly was scaring the **** out of me and really depressing. Despite my valiant efforts on the tread mill, 5 to 6 days a week I haven't seen much weight loss; at least not as much as I would have expected from the amount of time and effort that has been put in. (bitterness aside) I don't want to gain any of the weight back while I am gone, and was curious as to any tips to drop some weight while I am vacationing. It would be a nice surprise to come back 10 pounds lighter. hah or is that pushing it.

Losing weight in england works the same as it does here

All kidding aside, walk as much as you can, maybe a friend can get you a pass to a gym while you're there.

Try and do grocery shopping and prepare your foods just as you would at home. As for food, I personally find it a bit more difficult to find heathfood stores, or the variety of organics and vegetarian fare I have in nyc, but you just have to look a bit harder. Waitrose is a pretty nice grocery store and London has a whole foods.

But don't pressure yourself. Nothing is going to magically happen in england to better your chances of weightloss.

If you focus on getting exercise in (biking on the coutryside is lovely) and eating right, you should be fine.

I just got back from a 4-week vacation in greece and I lost 6lbs, check out the thread I started about it below when I returned. I took with me my food scale, my calculator, my food journal, my measuring tape, and tried to eat sensible portions while staying within my calories. I didn't exercise as much as I would have liked but I'm sure that if I did more then I would have lost more weight.

You can definitely do this - the weather now won't be quite so hot so you'll be able to walk everywhere (no excuses). Have a fun time while staying on track.

I'd say it's easier now to find healthy choices in England than it's ever been. The NHS is really struggling to cope with obesity-related disease and the government has made it a priority to push healthy living. Moreso in England than here in Wales (ironic as people are even fatter in Wales...)

with love from the UK
