Default I suddenly hate french fries?

Two things really... I wanted to know if anyone else had this happen to them and I also wanted to share a little "yippeeee" with everyone.

So tonight, DH stopped to pick up something for dinner and I picked out something healthy and lower calorie on the menu only to find myself jealous over his french fries... so I took one... and IT WAS SO GROSS. The grease, the taste of the grease, the texture... just awful and I started to wonder how I had ever enjoyed them.

I've only been calorie counting for about 4 weeks now and one of those weeks were off plan due to oral surgery so I'm a bit shocked that I'd have such a reaction. Has this happened to anyone else?

Not to me. I am just in here hoping some of it rubs off onto me Fried potatoes are one thing that I never lost the taste of sadly!

BUT having said that - what I found was that I was more attuned to how food made me feel the more weight I lost . . . so that my old faithful friends no longer held the same allure or tasted as good knowing that I could not run as well if I had donuts or bagels in my belly. Bagels in particular I felt lived in my system much longer than other foods so I could not eat them with my old regularity.

Its a good moment when you realise you dont NEEEEEEED things that you thought you could not resist in the past though isnt it

MOST DEFINITELY. My husband is obsessed with steak and shake and I obliged and went. I decided to splurge and get a sandwich with a salad.I only had one bite of my sandwich because the grease made me nauseas. I actually felt sick for awhile. I'm not sure if it was my brain knowing it was bad or if there was an actual body change.

I don't hate them, but they don't taste as good as they did before. I've been away the past few days and today when I got home I was like my kingdom for some fruit and veggies!

Yup, that totally happened to me. Even the smell of them makes me want to hurl now.

Something similar happened to me with Pringles. I had two and it felt like my mouth was covered in grease. It was truly like I'd taken a swig of oil!

I haven't had fries for ages but I think I would have a similar reaction. I know I couldn't finish the ham and cheese sandwich that was served with my tomato soup when I went out to lunch with friends. While I'm not eating really low fat, I have reduce it overall. I guess it really hammers home how greasy restaurant food is.

MN.

It seems with every diet I've done I've given up something that I never went back to: butter, regular chips, double cheeseburgers (I still like regular burgers), 2% milk, salt... but never fries. I wish. If I could hate fried foods and pizza I'd be a happy woman. But I have lost my taste for Wendy's this time, which was pretty freaking exciting because I used to eat there 2-6 times a week(in addition to other fast food chains, but Wendy's def. was where I went the most).

Me too! I was there 3-4 times a week, easily, for my double burger and biggie fries (if I didn't "treat" myself to the Great Biggie fries!). Now just driving by and smelling it makes me ill.

I haven't had this reaction yet with french fries (I wish!)
But, I've discovered that anything else deep-fried just doesn't taste right and = violent stomach upset now.
Yesterday was my "cheat" day, and we went out for Japanese - I ordered some vegetable tempura, got two pieces in and couldn't eat any more. I'll still eat Japanese occasionally, but I'll be skipping anything that's fried from now on for sure!

I'm finding that kind of food doesn't taste as good as I thought it did before -- so while I might not like the greasiness, I find the taste is very bland to me now.

I might be able to convince you ladies to hate those foods if you knew how many thousands of calories you have given up. My doctor told me french fries (with gravy) have at least 1000 calories per serving and more, depending on the size you order. Bake fries have only 200 C's.

A bag of chippies is over 2700 calories -- if you have a bag of those or nachos (my fave) once a week, you would gain over 40 lbs in a year. No wonder we get so heavy. The super sizes have even more; last week, I noticed that only 40 grams have over 400 calories, so if the typical bag is 270 grams or more, you can figure it out yourself ...

Pizza -- one of my all-time favorite foods: over 600 calories per slice and meatlovers is even worse. I make my own now on pitas or whole wheat wraps, and I enjoy this much more ...

You have to walk for 2 hours just to wear off 12 Nachos. Honestly, to me, they just aren't worth it anymore!

Yep, it definitely gets that way. The downside I've found is that if I go off plan for a couple days that feeling goes away. Which is definitely incentive to stay on plan to begin with because it's nice to not want what's bad for you!

It's been a few months since I have had fries. Potatoes have always been my weakness and for me, unless I plan to eat them and be sure to have just a serving available when I do, it can get ugly quickly

It is great when you can turn up your nose to foods you once loved. Congrats

I still love fries, although I eat them very seldom now. I went to Wendy's for the first time in MONTHS the other day and had a small fry with a small, plain cheeseburger. The calorie count was still attrocious so I probably won't be going back there for awhile! But yeah....I still like the fries. I have an iron gut, though, so it takes a lot to make me feel bad, food-wise.
