This is still the week I am "taking off" but disregarding that...I have been thinking of changing up my plan a bit. I was wanting to get advice/opinions/tips on this.
I am thinking along the lines of this
Day 1
10am - Wii Fit Advanced Step - 30 minutes
1pm - Cardio circuit - 30 minutes
4pm - Wii Fit Expert Rhythm Boxing - 30 minutes
Day 2
10am - Wii Fit Advanced Step - 30 minutes
1pm - Strength circuit - 30 minutes
4pm - Wii Fit Expert Rhythm Boxing - 30 minutes
Day 3
10am - Wii Fit Advanced Step - 30 minutes
1pm - Combo circuit - 30 minutes
4pm - Wii Fit Expert Rhythm Boxing - 30 minutes
Day 4
REST
Then repeat the cycle.
The times do not include warm ups or cool downs, which I do.
Is this realistic for your lifestyle? A proper warm up, cooldown, and strech is usually 15-20 minutes, each. So, each 30 minutes of exercise a day not including any showering, is 45-60 minutes, then 3 times per day. That's 2-3 hours! Is there a reason you don't want to do one hour or 1 1/2 hour all together? It doesn't seem very sustainable for the average lifestyle but if you have time to dedicate to it, go for it. I think you could get an effective workout in just 30-60 minutes a day though.
Well, considering I don't work or have any kids...basically I have no lifestyle, lol.
I wanted to break it up because it is hot, we have no ac and we live in a mobile home. Doing even 45 minutes of workout in the heat makes me want to vomit, lol.
Sounds reasonable to me... Warm ups / cool down can done within the game time frame so I don't think it would be that much extra time, but this coming from the girl who also does 2-3 hours a day.
If those games are what you feel will get you moving and breaking it up during the day makes it easier for you I say go for it.
Anything that keeps you moving and grooving is better than sitting down watching TV ... Later on you may want to add some weight training in one of your sessions or do the WT on alternate days...
Wii Fit Advanced Step and Wii Fit Expert Rhythm Boxing just sound cardio-ish (new word?) .... The hand weights you are using are probably on the lighter side and help get your heart rate up.
* Help raise your metabolism. Muscle burns more calories than fat, so the more muscle you have, the more calories you'll burn all day long.
* Strengthen bones, especially important for women
* Make you stronger and increase muscular endurance
* Help you avoid injuries
* Increase your confidence and self-esteem
* Improve coordination and balance
The rest of the article is very good too. Hope this helps..
If you've got the time it sounds good to me. Since you've got the Wii already you should check out Golds Gym Cardio (boxing) for the Wii also! It burns a good amount of calories and would also help keep you from getting bored with too much of the same thing all the time. Just a thought....
Keep in mind if you decide to try the golds gym that it starts out slower and shorter periods until you unlock everything just like the Wii Fit.
I use the hand weights with DVDs I have with Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels, 2 which are specific for sculpting/strength. The weights I use are 2 different sets, one 5 pounds each and another set that's 10 pounds each.

Funny you should mention that, I just told my boyfriend tonight I want it. It is on sale at Best Buy for 20 bucks and we have a $15 gift cert for Best Buy
I want the wii. Not in my budget now. I just posted about how I love weight lifting and how it is really helping me drop the weight. I used 5 lbs right now. But I will up them to 10 lbs when I am ready.
any weights if you are a beginner are considered "weight training"
Thanks so much jendiet. Like I stated above, I do use hand weights with 3-4 routines weekly. I have been doing so for a couple months now and I can tell a difference in my body.
