Exclamation Week 1 losing weight?

Hi Everyone,

So I've been doing Weight Watchers for a week now (my weigh in day was thursday). Let me tell you, I have stuck to the plan religiously and have been drinking buckets of water and even joined the gym. I feel great, my skin is glowing and I was so excited to stand up on the scales and finally see the weight beginning to leave me for once and for all.

To my complete disappointment when I stood up on the scales NOTHING had changed. Despite my attempts all week, I was still the same. I was just wondering has anyone else had similiar experiences when first starting on Weight Watchers? Does it sometimes take a week or two for you to actually lose weight?

I won't lie, I was very disappointed, but I'm determined to stick with this until I finally DO see a change on the scales .

Any thoughts or advice ladies?
Frey x.

Yup!!! There is NOTHING more frustrating that doing all the right things, and nothing happens! Especially since week 1 is SUPPOSED to be a big loss!!!
Here's what is happening:
1. You are drinking buckets of water and going to the gym. When you start exercise, your muscles need extra water to help heal them! So what your body does is RETAIN water for a period of time.
2. You are on track with respect to points. But you really need to know that although the plan allows for flex points and exercise points, you may be one of those people, like me, for whom these are TOO MANY POINTS. Seriously! When I re-started WW early last year, I ate my daily points, all of my flex points and all of my exercise points the first week. And I didn't lose a thing! And I didn't go back!!! I was SO frustrated. But I went back several months later and here I am today!
3. Focus on those NON-scale victories! Your skin is glowing! You feel great! So just don't quit.

What I would personally recommend is this:
1. Continue with the water.
2. Cut back your exercise for the next week. I'm sure I'll get alot of crap for this suggestion, but this is just temporary, to see what is going on.
3. Eat only your daily points. Use your Flex points in an emergency. Don't eat any exercise points.
Stick with this for a week and see what happens. This is just to see what your body tolerance level is with respect to points. Once you know your points tolerance, you can up the exercise and see what happens when you use your Exercise points.

I find that I am a turtle. 1/2 -1 lb per week is really really good for me. I do 90 minutes of Hot Yoga 4 times a week. I eat my daily points. I don't eat my Flex points unless there is a good reason to do so. I don't eat my exercise points. And this gets me 1/2 - 1 lb per week. And while doing ALL of this, I spent 9 NINE weeks in the 180s. So, for ME, this is what I have to do because clearly I have a really efficient metabolism and a very tight point tolerance level. Others will recommend eating more points, and so on, because their bodies have a different metabolism and they can tolerate a wider range of points. But this is what WORKS for ME. You just have to find out your points tolerance is, then build on the exercise and see what happens...

Hang in there!

Kira

one thing for me is i always rest the day before a weigh in no workout i may take a walk but, nothing with weights or super tough. have found that makes a difference

as far as the your weekly points i'm talking the extra not your daily i found that when i upped my exercise i really needed to eat those points to i didnt add in extra points for exercise to my daily just the weekly points that you get and found that my weight came off better that way to if your not eating enough and your working your tail off your body is going to go into starvation mode and hold onto everything .. if you arent giving your body enough food to go the weight isnt going to come off..

drink the water drink drink drink if your drinking pop try to wean yourself off of it and just drink water this makes a huge difference in weight loss to..

something i have noticed for me is staying away from sugar subsitutes makes a difference in my weightloss to very weird but, if i cut the substitute out i lose better???

Hey Frey I have question for you that might seem silly at first but did you eat all of your daily points everyday? I was having the same problem when I first started exercising but I had alot of points to eat in a day and felt guilty eating after I exercised so I was not eating all of my daily points. I know that personally I don't use any of my exercise points ever and I use my flex points as needed but not that often. My leader convinced me to eat all of my points for a week and tadah I lost weight..Hope this helps in someway...also even though you are staying within your points watch your carb intake thats one suggestion Chris my leader has given me she wants me to limit my carbs to two servings a day.

Hi CP,

Thanks for your reply . Yep, I am eating all of my points every day. I know how important it is. I joined WW for the first time a few years ago and it took me ages to get used to the concept that I could actually EAT all that food and STILL lose weight . I've been eating up all of my points everyday, the only things that I've started doing as well would be drinking more water and exercising a **** of a lot more. Thank you for your input though. Appreciated

Thanks for your reply Huntersmommy. I'll have to try resting the day before I weigh in and see if that makes a difference. You're right about the points. I'll have to fiddle around with them (my extra activity ones) and see if eating them makes a difference. I find that when I get back from the gym, I'm usually pretty hungry, so maybe eating them would help. Thanks .

Hi Kira,

Thanks for your reply. Oh yep, it is definitely frustrating. Sometimes it's hard to stay on track when you work your butt off all week and can't see all that hard work reflected on the scales. But I'm determined to not give up this time around! I'll stick with it .

Thanks for all your suggestions. I honestly did not even think about the fact that your muscles store extra water. I'll try your suggestions and let you know how I get on. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated .
