Default I am a skeptic...kinda

So its obvious that WW works....or it wouldn't be so popular.

Today is my first day

I was looking up the points of various foods in my pantry and I looked up my instant chow mein noodles and they are only 6 points

So i could eat chow mein everyday for lunch and still lose weight? As long as I stay within my points?

I just don't feel like this way of eating (I have quit using the word diet) is very restrictive at all. Am I just jaded by the more restrictive fads or what?

Oh, and my frosted mini wheat's are only like points before milk. I can have frosted mini wheat's?

Maybe I am so confused because I have done nothing but Atkins for the last 3 and a half years...maybe I just didn't realize that you can diet with noodles? Breads? Dare I say....potatoes!?

Help?

I have been doing WW for the last 8 weeks and so far so good. Just make sure that when you are figuring out your points you remember that it is per serving. So check you Lo Mein and see how many servings it is. You will get the hang of it.

Good Luck.

WW is a wonderful plan because you can eat many different foods, including carbs, treats etc as long as you are accountable for them and count them in your points. It breeds the healthy attitude of moderation.
However, since I can eat miniscule amount of cheesies with WW- it leads me to eating, and counting a great deal of crappy food. Sure, I journal it- but I exploit it and end up eating and dieting on junk food. No good at all!
WW works so well for many people. Good luck with your diet.

That's both the beauty and the beast of WW. Some people take it as permission to eat (and account for) junk and go crazy - spend all their points on ice cream and cookies and cheesy pasta. Others look at it as mere flexibility - if you WANT that ice cream once in a while, go for it, as long as you can account for it in your daily points.

It comes down to math - as long as you stay within your points, you are on a calorie-restricted diet, and should lose weight. But you're not doing anything for your health if all you eat is frosted mini wheats and lo mein. There's a balance to be struck.

I would suggest making sure that you are eating all the "healthy checks" each day. If you aren't, then make sure you can get all the things you need while eating the things you like. Frosted mini wheats would count as a whole grain serving and the milk a milk serving in the "healthy checks." Regular noodles don't help meet anything though. But you can eat them if you've got the points to.

Hi there!
You can lose weight while keeping within your points. And how you choose to do that is entirely up to you. Which is why this program is great! And I have known people who have eaten 3 chocolate bars a day, and still lost weight. BUT, the reality of this program is that you really won't last long-term if you eat 3 chocolate bars a day and nothing else!
I've found that at first, I ate lots of high point, low nutritional value foods because I COULD, darn it. But after a month or so, I wasn't really very full and had to spend my points better. Gradually, I have switched to a more filling diet, with treats still mixed in.
Give this a shot! What do you have to lose, except a few pounds???

Yes, you can have frosted mini wheats and chow mein noodles, but will that really fill you up? I know if I had that I would be starving two hours later and end up eating something else. I think it's okay to have that stuff every once in a while, but you will probably have to mix those items in with some low points, filling foods like fruits and veggies.

You can eat anything you want, but all in moderation.

WW is great for me because I think of it as a challenge to minimize points and maximize food. I found myself eating such low point foods (but without going hungry) that I could eat a bowl of nachos before bed and I still lost weight!

I had heard from friends that they lost more weight when they ate all their points. So, if the day was over and I had 6 points left, I would get out the queso and corn chips and measure out 6 points worth. It was great.

Today I allocated my points so I could have 3 pieces of pizza for dinner!
