Default plateau or muscle gain??

After losing weight steadily for the while now, everything seems to have stalled. In fact, today I'm up 1 pound from what I was almost two weeks ago.

For the past month, I've been going to the gym and really concentrating on weight lifting with the nautilus equipment. I've already progressed up to lifting more weight with the same repetitions, so I think there has been some muscle gain. However, would that really explain going so long without any weight loss?

I try to be positive and know that I'm eating right and exercising, yet I'd love to have the positive reinforcement I get by seeing the scale go down.

Anybody else have similar issues by lifting weights? I've been a bit discouraged lately.

Matt, 2 weeks of staying the same or even going up a lb is not abnormal.

It could be muscle gain but its more than likely water retention. Your muscles tend to retain water after your weight workouts. I'd say keep doing what you are doing and see what happens in the next 2 weeks.

I agree.
If you are really giving your muscles a workout, you may have put on a pound or two of muscle. Much of the "weight" is water and glycogen. once your body utilizes the extra muscle you'll probably start losing again in a couple weeks.
