Default Results from Running/Speed Walking

To all the Treadmill people out there, i was wondering how long it took you to start seeing results. Ive been working out on the treadmill averaging a little over 2 miles a day and for about 35 to 40 mins. i feel great afterwards and feel like im getting a great workout. i know in the past results would be kind of delayed then one day i would wake up feeling a little smaller. i wanted to know how long did it usually take your body to respond?

Personally, running (more HIIT than steady state) has helped me see results rather quickly. However, it's important to mix cardio with resistance training (weights) to get more of that "toned" look. I have noticed a huge difference in my body the past 3 weeks or so since combining the two.

Good luck! I am sure you will see awesome results soon! Great job so far!

The answer here is that there are no answers... everyone is different. We all show results at different varying times because we're all different... BUT having said this USUALLY it takes about a month of steady exercising to see a difference.

I agree with LittleMoon that HIIT is very effective... HIIT is high intensity interval training... you warm up for 5 minutes then run/walk as fast as you can for one minute, then have a recovery period for one minute... do 10 of those intervals 1:1 for a total of 20 minutes then a cool down for 5 minutes. I also agree that adding weight resistant training is very very important...

Just want to throw out there that not everybody feels the need to add weight training. I'm bored to tears by lifting (I did lots of it in the past) and I'm finding I'm staying quite toned and muscular by running and biking. Just an alternative opinion.

for the last month (April) i only skipped gym 7 times. On a daily basis i would do 3.1 miles on treadmill (hitt) and then if i have time i do 15mins-30 mins of other cardio machines. Then every other day i have weights days.
SO that is said.... i lost 14-15 lbs and lost 4 inches of weist. But again this was my FIRST month and we all know its common to lose a lot during the first month. Now my lbs are slowly going down (maybe 1 lbs a week if that)...

Hi

I agree everyone is differnt..
Remember with excerise healthy eating is needed too!
some weeks i would eat OK and work out hard and not lose as much as the weeks i worked out and ate great..
I lost about 12 pounds since 3/11/09
So thats not too bad.. Yesterday 5/1/09 I just started pushing myself even more.. Trying to do 3 miles a day (3) days a week and 1.5 the rest..
and we will see what happens.. But I measured myself the other day. and i did lose inches too! that suprised me!

Good Luck, I would plan at least a month too!

It only takes me a couple of weeks before I start to feel better.

As for fat loss, that takes a bit longer, but I tend to eat more when I work out, which negates the calories burned during the workout. So that is something I have to watch.
