I added 11 lbs to our total this week. That is really good considering we only had a handful of weigh ins this week.
WOOOHOOOO Kim! Your on your way!!
Though I didn't get back down to my normal weight, I was very successful last week. Last Monday, I weighed in at 222 after a weekend full of you know what. Most, water weight...I weighed in at 216 on Friday and maintained this morning. So, I was successful. Now, am shooting for 3 lbs this week. I know alot, but not since I haven't been losing very much or often. 213 here I come!
I think the 1 lb competetion did alot of good for everyone. Wether your struggling or doing really well, let's go for it again.
1 lb. We all can lose 1 lb this week! Let's make a record! lol Everyone in?
hehe, put me down for... 12 pounds all the weight I gained back, plus 2 more, poof...gone! and I still seem to be holding on to some water, so we'll see what happens...
Yeah, too bad it's mostly water from when I swelled when I was sick...lol, but just like I count a gain as a gain, no matter what, a loss is a loss, no matter what!
I'm not sure why I lost three pounds. Maybe because I didn't lose any weight last week? I don't know. Weight loss is still mysterious to me. I've been losing at a rate of between 1 and 2 pounds a week since late February though. I seem to lose 1 pound if I don't exercise and 2 pounds during weeks when I do alot of strengthening exercises. I have a knee injury and while I can't do alot of normal exercise yet, I do have alot of specific knee and leg strengthening exercises to do as my rehab program.
Problem is, sometimes the exercises throw my back out, and then I can't do the exercises to strengthen my knee which means I can't do normal exercise which means my back doesn't get strong which means it more easily goes out on me. Kind of a vicious cycle.
I've lost 4 inches all over. Sizing's a bit funny though. It's hard to judge what size I was or am because all clothing is cut differently. I can still wear alot of the same clothes I wore 47 pounds ago though I've had to get rid of some outfits, and buy a couple of new ones. I'd have to say that I've probably lost between 1 and 2 pants sizes depending upon the cut and fit, between 1 and 2 blouse sizes depending upon the cut and fit, and between 1 and 2 dress sizes. Also, when I started this journey, everything I owned was super tight, and I couldn't wear most of the items in my closet.
I'm collecting the clothes that I've shrunk out of. Eventually, I'll give the ones in good condition away to a charity like Good Will. When we were growing up, we got alot of our clothes there since money was tight. I'd like to give back.
Good job, Bella. A 3/4 pound loss is excellent. Any loss is excellent. Actually, I think it's pretty good just to stay the same and not gain, but a loss is even better. Slow and steady wins the race. I'm convinced that it's too hard to lose alot of weight all at once, but it is possible to lose it a pound at a time, or 3/4 of a pound at a time.
Jiffypop - that's incredible!!!! How did you lose 6.5 pounds in 10 days? And how did you lose so much weight overall? You must feel so much better! It's so inspiring for me to see that other people struggle with weight and in spite of trials and extreme difficulties succeed in getting it off and keeping it off. It's inspiring to see that it IS possible to make a change.
When I need a little motivation I like to read a few stories of people who have succeeded at weight loss -- and that gets me inspired to keep up the fight myself. Reading your story is definitely inspiring me. Keep up the good work. You've come a long way.
I think it's inspiring too to see that other people struggle and have trouble losing weight. I've struggled with weight since childhood, only to continue to gain and gain. It's good to know I am not alone.
thanks for the kind words, jeanne. the weight loss has come by a different route, though. the first 97 were lost after the doctors corrected my serious sleep apnea, and, as one wise one said, i finally had a metabolism!!!
the rest of it came from a roux en y gastric bypass on january 29, 2002. not what i'd recommend to the world, but it has worked for me.
and, i'm even 10 pounds ahead of my surgery buddy, marc, who had his surgery 2 hours after mine. and don't think i let him forget it!!!
