Question High quality blenders

I am wanting a really good tough commercial type blender, and I am scared of spending several hundreds of dollars, until I get some opinions on which blender has worked or not worked for you.
Right now I know there is the Vita-Mix 5200, Blend-Tec, and the K-Tec HP3

Does anyone have any advice on which would be the best for the money?

Thank you
Cathy

I have a vita mix and it sounds like a chainsaw. Works well, But seriously, it is SO loud. I like my little one better because the vita mix is so loud the dog barks and my son cries. Seriously. Little overpriced if you ask me.

Put my vote in for Blend-Tec. I was at Costco this past weekend and they were doing a Blend-Tec demonstration. I am NOT the kind of person who stops and watches these sorts of things but I was so amazed I couldn't leave. I also sampled a smoothie and hot tortilla soup from the blender cookbook. Both were awesome. The sales guy even tried blending a HAMMER and the blender didn't flinch. It is bullet proof for crying out loud.

All in all, high quality blender.

I have a VitaMix and I *love* it. Yes, it's loud - it makes my dogs "sing" - but it's got a 2hp motor in there, so it doesn't need to be on for very long.

Favourite fruity drink: apple, orange, pineapple, banana, ice.... mmmm.

Favourite veggie drink: spinach, apple, ice, a little water. I sometimes add cucumber, celery or parsley, basically whatever is in the fridge.

VitaMix has a chart on their website of veggie/fruit combos that make great drinks.

I don't know anything about the others, or about the pricing; I know VitaMix is expensive but it's been worth it. It's so powerful, my brother says he knows when I'm using it because our city goes into brownout mode!

I've got to vote for the Vitamix, it's definitely the best piece of kitchen equipment i've bought.

My husband is a vegan, so it gets a lot of use. Apart from the amazing smoothies, we make soups, batters for cakes, salad dressings, hummus, ice cream, soy milk just about everything.

It's the one thing in the kitchen bar the kettle and oven that I use every single day.

It is loud but if your making a smoothie it's only on for about a minute, soups take longer about 5 mins so I just go out the room and come back when it's finished. For a little blender that's so powerful you can't expect it to be silent.

It also comes with a great recipe binder, with lots of lovely things to eat and drink. They all have the nutritional content as well, so you don't have to work them out which is really handy.

As you can see, I love my Vitamix!

Forgot to say earlier, if you do a google search for veg family vitamix review theres a great review of the vitamix. There's also a link on there to get a Vitamix with a 30day trial and free shipping.

We have a vitamix and yes it's loud but it works great. If you look on willitblend.com you can see the blendtech guy throwing everything you can think of into the blendtech brand blender and it's awesome to watch! In my opinion you can't go wrong with either brand you buy. Happy blending!
