Default Paper Journal and Scrap Books

Hi All

I keep reading so much about how journaling helps you be more successful at weight loss. So I was wondering if...

For those of you who keep paper journals would you mind sharing what you do. What type of book do you use, what do you write in them. Calorie Count of foods, feelings,time..etc. As much detail as you can give would be helpful.
Also I would like to start some kind of scrap book of my journey. So as much detail as you can about that would be helpful.

Thanks

thank you! your doing great as well! 19 lbs what a big differnce it's at that point your clothes start feeling to big and it's a great feeling!

I love scrapbooking, but I would have never thought to a whole section just dedicated to weight loss- that's genius! I think I even going to have my hubby start taking pics of me weighing my myself! with the number showing.. of course I wont let any one see till I'm at goal LOL.... but even pics of me exercising. etc.. that would make for some great pages! and then of course I take my before and after pics each month wearing the same outfit in the same location in my house so that will make a few good pages as well!

I have a paper journal in addition to tracking on tdp. I don't really write how I'm feeling in it either, but I do stick copies of photos and interesting/motivating articles in there along the way. It's just a 3-prong binder, but I use the plastic page covers because that makes it easier for me to keep it organized.

Not a problem. I know it is hard to read.

I keep track of everything I eat. I also put it in daily plate.

I also like to keep a paper, hand-written journal. The one I'm using lets me log food intake, calories, fat, exercise, supplements, etc. It's called a DietMinder. (I'm fairly new here- if I wasn't supposed to include the actual product name, please feel free to delete.) Thanks.

I started using a steno pad, on one side I log what I eat and the CC points, on the other side is my TODAY side and I write what I am feeling through out the day, at the bottom of the page I post my water, exercise and if I took my meds, sometimes I list my to do list too.
at the end of the day I put a happy face sticker if its been a good day.
works for me nicely, love the steno books, easy to write in too.

I got a blank (lined) journal at the bookstore. I chose one that was pretty, made from recycled paper, and had a metal ring binding so it's easier to fold flat.

I write everything in mine. I really try to write in it daily. I write what I eat for the day, the calories of those items, and anything I'm feeling. I write about a guy that I'm crushing on, or if I've had a fight with a friend, or if I feel like crap that day....or if I've exercised and feel great about it....whatever I want.

I also have quotes/diet hints that I taped into the notebook. For example:
"Go food shopping after you have eaten, never before. Traveling the supermarket aisles when you're famished can lead to overbuying of all the wrong kinds of food."

"If you break your diet (just about everyone does) start over. Don't use a slip-up as an excuse to stop dieting altogether. And don't feel bad about it: Nobody's perfect."

Good luck!

I use a blank lined work book. If I excercise a lot (8mi bike ride etc) and I decide to up my calories a little that day I'll write it down but other than that I just catalogue the foods I've eaten. I really like the idea of adding quotes though. My favorite weight loss quote is actually not for weight loss at all but I've related it to my journey:

"Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way." E.L. Doctorow

I'm not losing the 100+ lbs its taken a lifetime to accumulate in a week or a month. If I can get through this week on plan; if I can get through today on plan; if I can lose this 5 lbs right here then I can get to something healthy on the far side.

What are some other motiviational sayings that have helped everyone else?
A quick google search also turned up the following I like:

You may delay, but time will not. Benjamin Franklin

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.Unknown

Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality. Ralph Marston
