Default Ketosis Question

I've been on the diet since Feb 18th. I was in Ketosis the first week or two but haven't been since then. I've lost 13.5 pounds. I follow the plan to a tee and just wondering why I'm not in Ketosis?

Any thoughts on that?

From what I understand, MRC doesn't want you to be anything more than Trace ketosis or less. They say many of their clients don't ever get in ketosis. Its bad for your body. I have lost 55 pounds since Dec. 1st and only showed trace ketosis once. I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine

Just a quick definition of Ketosis
Ketosis occurs when you are taking in a low level of carbohydrates from the food you eat. Lipolysis results in the creation of ketones (that's ketosis) , a perfectly normal & naural function of the body.
In the minds of laypeople (and even some ill-informed doctors) ketosis is often confused with diabetic ketoacidosis. The latter is the consequence of insulin-dependant subjects having out-of-control blood sugar levels, a condition that can occur as well in alcoholics and people in the state of extreme starvation. Ketosis and ketoacidosis may sound vaguely alike, but the two conditions are virtually polar opposites. They can always be distinguished from each other by the fact that the diabetic in ketoacidosis has been consuming excessive carbohydrates and has high blood sugar,in sharp contrast to the person doing a low carb eating plan.

I have only showed a trace once and lost all of my weight without ever hitting ketosis. Just follow the plan - it will work!!

They had us testing regularly for about a month but they haven't kept up with it. I never showed even a trace but was still losing. They always told me that some people never register. I think they should take that part out of the contract if some people won't register anyway....what's the point?

Don't worry about it. I think we have just enough sugar & starch through the day to keep us out of anything more than maybe a trace (except for first thing in the morning when everyone's in ketosis because we haven't eaten all night).

I never registered on the strips (well, maybe once I registered a trace) and lost just fine. You're doing great - don't overthink!

I have lost 30 pounds in the first 35 days and I was trace maybe twice. And they test me twice a week.

I do test for ketosis sometimes but honestly I've never been. It's not a rule, there's people who lose weight only when the stip comes out deep purple and some who are loosing a lot and eating really little carbs and the strip comes never even a purpl-ish...I'm in the second group, lol.

Default Only on occasion!

I have been on MRC since January 2, 2009 and have only shown on the test strip a few times. I was fortunate to meet someone shortly after I started and she had lost most of her weight and had never been in ketosis which let me know that not showing the sign was fine. My center doesn't even check me every time but about half the time when I do test it has been trace and a couple of times I have actually shown small amount. I am drinking 5 drinks a day trying to increase my weight loss. I have also just started the "all day" vitamins and I was so surprised that I am not ever hungry, I have to force my self to eat each meal! I do have alterier motives though, just booked a trip in June and I am hoping I will get to buy a new swim suit if mine doesn't fit any more! Congratulations to everyone on their successful life changes, it makes me feel better seeing so many people doing so well on the program! Huggers!!!!
