I'm not a big breakfast person... but I make sure I get something in. It varies, but is generally simple. I try to start my water as soon as I wake up.
On weekends, my DH likes to make pancakes. I use caution, and eat very slow. That way, I fill up much faster and don't overeat. We usually get a ton of outdoor exercise on weekends, so I normally don't worry too much.
I've just cut my Diet Coke.... and I've had some serious withdrawal... headaches, etc. But the Aspartame threads just really hit me hard. I've got some Diet Rite in the fridge if I get desperate! LOL!!
I love toast and LOVE butter. I have almost cute butter out of my diet completely.
I sometimes use... apple butter... (try bayfield brand - white lid - made in Wisconson) 0 points - NOT all apple butters are 0 points
Smuckers low sugar jam... 0 points
honey butter... (my fav!) 1 T - 1 point
peanut butter 2 pts 1 T - worth it for me
philadelphia light (not FF) chive & onion cream cheese - 1 T - 1 pt
(I usually put that on a natural ovens bagel - very very filling - and yummy)
I also put a little on a sandwich (use it like butter) add a wonderful taste.. add cucumber to your sandwich - used with the cream cheese those slipperly cucumbers will stay in their place
I normally have a mixture of oatmeal and bulghur with either rice or Almond milk, and a slice of toast (usually homemade wheat, this week, homemade white ) with just about a teaspoon peanut butter...just barely enough to spread on I also throw in some cereal here and there, cheerios, life, raisin bran, or almond raisin granola I eat simple breakfasts, I guess if I have a weekend breakfast, or more likely just a special breakfast once in a while it's tofu based breakfast burritos with Gimmie Lean sausage substitute, or a bagel with tofutti cream cheese and facon bacon
i won't gross you out by telling you what i eat for breakfast.
but i do have a tip for sakk and the pancakes...
for an extra protein boost, here are some ideas:
- use cottage cheese instead of milk
- thin out the batter so the pancakes are thinner, and then layer a little cheese and shaved ham between a couple of pancakes
- mix some shredded cheese into the batter. i liked cheddar best
just some thoughts... it'll help stabilize your blood sugar for all that activity!
Thanks for all the great ideas for breakfast Morning time is my *worst* time... and I'm not always thinking. I'll tell myself the night before that I'm going to start off the next day with a really smart breakfast... and then AFTER I eat, I remember that I was going to do something different.... argh... LOL!!!
PNG: What's bulghur?? I've never heard of that?? Our local grocery store has started getting a *LOT* of neat stuff in...I'm very impressed! Granted, I haven't tried anything out yet... not even knowing what it is... and how it's supposed to help me! <Grin>
After hard-boiling eggs... how long can you keep them in the fridge???
Bulghur is a very high protien food, it's wheat that's been wire cut, steamed and then toasted, it's really very good, and pretty cheap too, running about $1 a pound... another good protien grain is quinoa, but it's rather pricey, worth it though, it's a complete protien
