I know this is OT but I would imagine a bunch of 20 somethings have a similar problem ... I have oily skin. I haven't found a product to fix it yet. Anyone know of a product that is good for oily skin?
I use Mary Kay Deep cleansing face wash in the summer because my skin goes from dry/normal to grease pit in the summer. Then I use the #3 moisturizer to go with it. The face wash is about $12-14 a bottle, but you might be able to get a sample size or something and see if it works.
The products are so different from Canada to the USA, so anything I can suggest I don't think would be available for you to buy Basically what you are looking for is something to control the oil, Neutrogena seems to be a good brand from what I hear. A toner really helps, see if you can find one with clay in it, what it does is deposit on your face and help to absorb oil thru-out the day. And remember to use a moisturizer! It seems odd, but basically when your skin is producing too much oil, it doesn't produce water, and leaves your skin dehydrated (but not dry). You want to bring that balance back. Oil-free isn't always good, a lot of the time products for oily skin have oil in them which get into your pores which signal your body not to product any more oil, the oil thats in your pores is bacteria free (doesn't give you breakouts).
Uhm, probably more information than you wanted/needed. Just make sure you are washing, toning and moisturizing twice a day with product meant to help control oil. And choose a makeup that is talc-free, as it does not clog your pores. Mineral makeup was basically invented for an oily skin, works SO well on them.
I've tried about a thousand products (of varying price ranges) and am currently digging 100% Pure for my oily/combination skin. I prefer natural/organic stuff for skin...
I've been using this line for a few weeks and it's already evened it out pretty well you can get it lots of places, but i bought my stuff on beauty.com (with a discount code) and the stuff they didn't have from the 100% Pure site. i hear Lush has some good products too.. that's next on my list of lines to try.
swimgirl is so right. i have oily skin, and i notice my skin does better when i moisturize. i didnt think that would be, but it is. neutrogena does work well, also. i use the face wash. good luck!
I'm from the UK so obviously the products are completely different. I have started using a Clean&Clear Anti-shine daily scrub and then a Neutrogena 2in1 facial wash once a day and then a Clean&Clear oil free dual action moisturiser after washing and my skin is sooo much better!

Actually, we have all those products in the US!
I've tried clean and clear and neutrogena and clearasil and proactiv and mario badescu but nothing reeeally works for me so on advice of a friend in the industry I am going to try clinque's acne line of products. She swears clinique is the best for skincare and she has all of her friends and family using their skincare stuff so we'll see..... I'll update when I've started using it for long enough to see a difference... which might be a little while as I am going to use up all my current products before trying out clinque-- waste not, want not!!!

Be careful with Clinique though, a lot of people I know are allergic to it and react badly to it!
I have the most sensitive skin in the universe. Anything with soap or benzoyl peroxide or lye (which most cleansers have unfortunately) breaks me out, or causes my skin to get dark spots. Anytime I use anything that lathers on my skin, it makes it even more oily and ruddy looking. To clean I use Cetaphil cream cleanser or plain old Noxema (both soap-free) on a soft white wash cloth and rub gently, and after rinsing while my face is still damp I put on a light moisturizer (Usually Aveeno SPF15 day cream, or Wei East daily moisturizer) and let it air dry.
I don't wear any actual face makeup, just a bit of mineral bronzer that has a touch of pink as a highlighter on the cheeks and eyelids and some mascara.
The oiliness kind of corrected itself when I stopped wearing makeup, but if I wash my face with soap it gets pretty bad. I guess on the plus side we won't have to worry about wrinkles. LoL.

Rebecca - for big pores you want to use a toner! It'll help to minimize the look of them. Using a harsh exfoliant will deform your pores making them look larger, but a toner really does help. Biotherm sells cleaner, toner, mask, serum and moisturizer that help to tighten your pores, if I were going to do one, I'd use the toner for SURE, and mask as a bonus!
Normaderm by Vichy is EXCELLENT for un-complicated acne/oily skin, it's the first product I recommend to all my oily customers. Not entirely sure where it's available in the USA though. It's also for sensitive skin.
