Default I don't look my weight...

I'm 5'9" and 152 lbs. but I look more like 165 or so. I work-out frequently with decent intensity and I'm not super strong, but I do have a little bit of muscle.

I don't really know what I'm asking .... haha.

Thoughts?

Huh...I'm about 5'9" too, I weigh a little over 206 and most people don't believe I am over 200 lbs. According to my BMI, I am obese, and I honestly don't believe I should be categorized as such. I am very healthy. No medications or health problems. I always thought the taller you are, the thinner you look...

I weigh 270 and I'm 5'11. I'm the same size of people that are my height but I weight 50 pounds more than them. It doesn't make sense but no one believes me when i tell my weight. I know I have a lot of muscle but I think my bones are made out of bricks as well.

I get that too. Lots of people can't believe I have 40 more pounds to lose. I really don't want to sound like I'm tooting my horn or anything. It's not like that. I think it all comes down to how you carry your weight. I'm sure you look just perfect! I have days where I feel like I weigh 250 & then days where I feel like I weigh 170. It's your mind playing tricks on you, sweetie.

I'm your height and your current weight is below my goal weight so like NYCT said you pry look great! Sometimes it's hard for you to see your own changes, but I'm sure they are happening. HWGA is right about the muscle weighing more and making what the scale says a little off, I too get the wide eyed stare of disbelief when I tell people how much I weigh. Maybe you could try toning muscle more so you can see definition and feel proud of all you hard work.

I am 5'9" and 143, down from 303, but still feel fat, and now people say I am slim.

annie - that is quite slim. it will probably just take a little while for your mind to catch up with your body and see yourself as you really are!

Wow, that is awesome, Annie! I hope I can get down to at least my goal. If I get down to what you are, I would be estatic!

I agree,it's probably mind verses eyes. However, I feel the same way. I weight 127 or so, and I feel like I weigh 140. It stinks.

Seems like there's two ideas in this thread, one is how you see yourself and the other is how you carry your weight. As far as carrying your weight, I think it has something to do with bone structure and frame size. The larger frame you have, the more weight you can pull off, but if you have lil' bird bones then you usually can't carry as much weight. That's one piece of the puzzle anyway.

I think everyone personally sees themselves heavier than what other people view them as. I remember learning about it in a psychology course.

People tend to scrutinize puffy cheeks, flabby arms, etc while people on the outside see them completely different!

It's interesting...I feel bloated and wide and jiggly, but I know at 130lbs and almost 5'6" I'm pretty normal. But it's just the psychology of it all!

Ahh thanks for all the advice/opinions! I think I definitely need to tone up. I do weight training as an after thought and should make it as important as cardio at this point. Also, I definitely have a tiny frame despite being tall. My wrists are the give away- they're the same size as my friends' who are under 5'4".

And hopefully I feel bigger than I look!! haha

It's all in your head. My mom is only one inch taller but 30 pounds heavier than I am, and I think that she doesn't look much heavier than me. Which sort of depresses me, to be honest.
