I was just thinking about all the things I've missed out on because of my weight, and how ridiculous it is that I've held myself back because of my weight--either out of embarrassment or fear that I won't be able to do it because of my size. So, I was wondering what other people have missed out on.
I'll start it off (these are just a few of them, I'm sure):
1-swimming in the summer
2-several trips that would have involved bathing suits
3-friends'/relatives' weddings
4-buying new clothes
5-hiking
6-sky diving
I missed being in pictures with my second two sons when they were really little. I feel bad that I have very few pictures of us together from their infancy. I am trying to make up for it now -- luckily my boys are all still young enough that I still have time to make some memories...with mom in them.
Pictures are hard for a lot of us, I think. I've definitely avoided having my picture taken- for about the past 5 years. It sucks to miss out on the documentation of your own life. But, at the time it's a lot less painful than seeing the reality of the situation.

Reason: .
Going rock climbing with my school, twice. Jumping on trampolines. Swimming x 100. Hot tubbing. Beach parties. Going to the beach in general. Gym class. School sports. Hiking with the school. Going to amusement parks. Missing the bus because I didn't want to even TRY to run for it. lol
I was fairly regular sized all the way up until I hit my mid to late 30's and then I started putting on the weight. So I had a fun childhood and 20's.
Really the only things I have missed out on are more activities outside and going to the beach. I live close to Virginia Beach and used to go there and Outer Banks, NC a lot when I was thinner.
I haven't been seen in swim trunks (or took my shirt off) in a LONG time.
When I reach goal maybe I will reward myself and go buy a little red leather Speedo and hang out on the beach again!
I can see me now, red leather speedo, fancy wrap around Italian sunglasses, buncha gold chains around my neck ... all I need is a hairy back and I'll be set!

LOL Just say no to Speedo!! (Although, the gold chains will help sell it!) I think I'm going to start a campaign!
I've always been confident enough to swim, water sports (water-ski, knee board, jet ski) beach...I mean, I grew up on the Gulf of Mexico.
But I've definitely missed out on things that I just couldn't do things like the plethora of kayaking trips everyone went on (these are huge hips I've got here and just won't fit), the sky-diving, etc, etc.
And the shopping. I have skinny sister and friends, and shopping has always sucked. The being dragged store to store and saying, "Oh that's cute, I'm going to go look at the sunglasses and jewelry".
