Default OT Hives Breakout

As I was getting ready to exercise Wednesday night, I noticed that I was breaking out into hives. This happened once before in February, randomly. We had no idea what the issue was, but they gave me a shot, a steroid pack, and some allergy pills. Things got better quickly, and it didn't happen again until the other night.

Luckily, I still had some of those allergy pills that I carry around just in case! I took two, pushed through my workout, took a shower and went to bed.

Things were still worse when I woke up yesterday, so I made a doctor's appointment. DH took some before and after pics, and it's seriously amazing how quickly things got bad and then how quickly they got better after the steroid shot.

My head just totally blew up this time, my ears nearly doubled in thickness, and there were even spots on my eyelids! Last time, it was more on my torso and scalp, but not my face.

They think I'm allergic to the antibiotic I was on for a sinus infection (went in last Tuesday). I wasn't on it in Feb, but I had taken it about 6 weeks before the reaction at the same time as a steroid pack. Either way, no more of that medicine, and I'm so happy to be back to normal!

Too bad steroid cause weight gain! I'll have to keep that in mind!

CRAZY! I'm glad you got that figured out, I was beginning to think you could really be the rare case that can honestly say "I'm allergic to exercise" haha

I'm glad it's better now!

Haha! I was afraid for a minute I was allergic to my actual exercise clothes since I'd just gotten them out of my bag after a few months, but things seem to be just fine now!

Ugh I hope the antibiotics were indeed the culprit, and that you don't get hives again!

oh my I had a mysterious outbreak of hives a few weeks ago..I feel your misery! I started getting itchy at work..and when i got home and out of shower i noticed HUGE red blotches/hives all over me! I went to Dr. and he thinks that it could have been my dust allergies...and he gave me an Epipen prescription! I didn't get it filled because i have never had hives for dust just itchy nose/eyes..and i had NONE of these symptoms. He told me to keep taking Benadryl.
However I began to wonder if I had caught something at the pool..(aqua aerobics) and the new fabric softener sheets........I still go to the pool just make sure to really shower after and I stopped using the fabric softener.

The weird thing is like the hives went throughout my body..first on stomach/thighs....next day..arms/knees/ and the day after feet and hands...very weird!!!

I work in a preschool and a child recently went to the Dr. for hives and his Dr. told the mother that it seems to be something "viral" he picked up and you can break out into hives if the infection is leaving your body.

Having hives are so annoying especially if you don't know the cause!
Good luck!!!
