Thumbs up Motivated & Ready!

Hi there! I'm new here to 3FC. I'm not even sure where to start so I'll just start writing & hope it makes sense to all of you, lol.

My name is Kris (Kristen, hence the screen name) and I've been married to a wonderful man for 3 years. We live in metro Atlanta, GA. I'm a homemaker & student, so I have a lot of time on my hands. No children, just 4 crazy furbabies! I do have PCOS. My husband & I have struggled with Infertility over 2 1/2 years. That is one of my motivators because we do want children, and don't want that struggle anymore, either!

My struggle with weight loss is somewhat complicated. I was never overweight. In fact, I was very much in shape, athletic (dance/cheer), and somewhat satisfied with how I looked. Somewhere along the lines I started to struggle, and developed an eating disorder. (anorexia/bulimia) I battled for several years but have been recovered for a little over 2. I do still struggle at times with not wanting to eat or even overeating at times.

Anyways, when I recovered, that is where the weight gain came from ... and it has been uphill since. The funny thing is, during that struggle I was Vegan/Vegetarian for many years as well. I no longer lead that lifestyle. I have eaten some beef since but could definitely live without it. I eat some chicken, and I do not eat pork or fish! I also am not a fan of cakes, pies, and don't really struggle with other sweets except for occasional ice cream or cookie. I do love my pasta though. lol

I'm here looking for motivation, enthusiasm for losing weight, and to get back being healthy/looking & feeling better. I did see a Diet Dr. for awhile who put me on Phentermine short term. I lost a little over 16lbs in 4 weeks but could not keep affording the amount of $$ it cost to see her every month. I did, however, enjoy the food regimen she had me on but felt like I was always in the kitchen surrounding myself with food. It was frightening!

So, I'm definitely looking forward to being here, meeting new people & making friends, and to lose this weight! I could definitely use some advice, too, and I'm sure you'll see a lot of questions from me around here. lol ((( HUGS )))

Ps. That wasn't so bad. Whew! lol

Hey Kris -

We have a lot of spots you may want to jump into!

From an age perspective, you might enjoy the 20-somethings forum. We have an excellent "Chicks in Control" forum for those who struggle with binge eating or have a history of disordered eating behavior. We also have groups by eating plan, so depending where you settle plan-wise, you could look around at those as well.

As far as being "surrounded by food", that might be a hint of disordered thinking about food talking, but there's no way to make an objective judgment without knowing what the plan was. Give us a summary - maybe we can point you in the right direction or give you ideas to tweak.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I've been browsing the site some and enjoying what I see so far. I'll definitely check out the "Chicks In Control".

I try not to think much about my disorder, although it will always be a struggle.

Oh, I forgot to add a generalization of the eating plan my Diet Dr. had me on. My apologies.

It was pretty basic but here is a general idea:

Breakfast: 1 cup cereal, 1/2 cup skim milk, 1/2 piece of fruit and/or another 1 cup of skim milk and/or yogurt.

Lunch: 1 cup salad, 4oz. some type of lunch meat, 2 slices of bread (could only be 40 cal. each), 1/2 piece of fruit.

Dinner: 6oz some type of meat, 2 cups veggies (no corn b/c it's a starch), piece of bread.

My snacks came from her office which were dietary hot chocolate and protein bars since I don't really eat a lot of meat at all. But, that is a generalization. There was some other options. I'll have to find the menu for specifics. It was a 1,500 calorie/day plan.
