Question Alternate Day Dieting

Hello,

Has anyone tried the Johnson Up day Down Day Diet? It's a very healthy way of getting those pounds down and great health benefits. Please let me know and thank you.

Hi Melanie!
I haven't tried this, but many years ago, my mom did an "every other day" diet. She lost lots of weight. From a personal note, I'm on WW and alter my points (high one day to lower the next) each day, and have constantly lost weight every week. (I do still eat healthy on my "high" days, I just eat things like nuts, more veggies, or extra goof fats to use up the extra calories/points)

I think there is something to the "every other day" dieting concept!

Sounds similar to Calorie Cycling, although the rhythm is different. On the other hand, I've never seen any science behind the actual patterns suggested for calorie cycling.

Hmm, i haven't heard about every other day diets. Do you really eat what you want on the non diet days and it works?

There's a similar plan called Eating QOD. They have a website with full plan info if you want to Google it. Johnson also has a website, but he recently published a book about it so I'm sure he will eventually remove the info to force you to buy the book.

I think both plans are backed by scientific studies, if you care to look up the long, boring papers. It is similar to CRON and intermittent fasting plans, both of which can provide health benefits and possible increased life span.

The obvious downside, you do have to drastically cut back the amount of food you eat. I've tried it, but I get real uneasy if I can't have food. I'm sure is psychological, but it's uncomfortable enough that I prefer to avoid that feeling.

My manager did a "rotation" diet program about 20 years ago. She went from a size 26 to a 10 and has maintained around a 12 ever since--when her clothes start getting tight--she goes back on the diet for a month or so.

I tried it without getting the same results--it's why there are so many different diet plans on this site--what works for one person doesn't work as well for another.

Texscrapper, do you mind if I ask - did your mum keep the weight off? I'm just curious.
