So, I'm new to this forum, but I could use a little extra support so i figured I'd try it out! I have been on a diet since 8/14 and when I started I weighed 231. I am not down to 202. I can feel a difference in the way my clothes fit and have even went from a size 20 to an 18. My husband says he noticed the difference, but he's supposed to say that no matter what. The problem is, when I look at myself, I don't see a damn thing different! Does anyone else have this problem? I realize 29lbs is a semi-significant weight loss, but I honestly don't notice the difference... It makes it hard to stay on track & continue counting calories when I don't physically see a difference in my body. Anyone else experience this? How do you get over & get the motivation to keep on going?
I feel the same exact way. I visited my grandparents, and my grandma commented on my weight loss. She is the one person I know is honest, because she notices my weigh gain all the time. When I lose weight and she notices, I know there must be differences.
But I never see them.
I always feel as if I look 20x heavier then when I lost the weight.
Also, don't forget, when you're looking down at yourself, you're looking from an odd perspective. Everything looks bumpy and out of perspective from up there. Even if you're using a mirror, it's hard to say "Yes, this is different," because you don't have the old you right next to you for comparison. This is why we should take pictures (much as *I* certainly don't like the idea, it's still good to have photographic evidence!).
I know exactly how you feel. I have lost 22 pounds so far and I can't tell at all hardly! Just keep on working though and DON'T GIVE UP.. you'll start to notice the difference soon! Keep it up
I've lost thirty three pounds in two months, and I can tell some difference. It's hard to see the results yourself, being that you live with yourself 24/7. I know my body is changing by the reactions of people who don't see me much. So I use that, among other things, as motivation. We tend to be way too self critical, so we really aren't the best judges.
Take some pictures at intervals through this too. I don't notice a huge change in myself, but even just 15 pounds down, people who haven't seen me in a while say there's a huge difference. So I'm sure other pople are noticing much more than you are. Hang in there, you're doing great! That's a big weight loss in just 2 and a half months
we're always so hard on ourselves, aren't we? After I lost 10 lbs (and quite a few inches due to exercising), I was discouraged and didn't think I looked any different. I asked DH and he said "Uhh...you're kidding, right? I can totally tell the difference!" He wouldn't say that if it weren't true (he's not like that which can be good and bad, LOL).
Do you have some old pictures of yourself?
Why don't you take a picture today and compare it to those?
My theory is that because I see myself everyday it's hard to notice the changes because they happen gradually and I just get used to the way I look, but when I look back at an older picture, I always think...."man I was way bigger back then"
