Default clif bars, luna bars, laura bars......

Are ANY of those OK for SB??? They keep talking about them on my BL challenge thread and they sound great but when I read the ingredients they didn't look so SB friendly to me...... anyone know off hand?

oh- and what about Bob's red mill vegetable soup mix?? (it has whole wheat alphabets in it.) the fiber is super high though. WDYT?

clif and lana, no...they have sugar in them and also rice. The Lara bars have no wheat, but are loaded with dried fruits...which means the sugar is pretty concentrated. Maybe divide on bar into several days?

Thin, why not whip up a batch of oatmeal breakfast bars? They're in the recipes section. Beachgal just posted a new one - pumpkin oatmeal bars, looks really yummy and I can't wait to try it.

The Nessa bars are a favorite around our household. We used to buy boxes of Lara bars and now, even though I'm not following SB 100%, they are still preferred.

We can change them to suit our needs or tastes (different fruits, etc.) and each time they come out a little different yet still really tasty!

They package up nicely - just wrap in plastic wrap or foil and they are perfectly portable. DS usually keeps one in his backpack when we go to the park and DH keeps a bunch of them in his fridge at work.

I think Heather (a mod) has a fruit and nut bar recipe, too. When I get it, I'll see if it's SBD modifiable and post it if so.

With the Larabars, you could see how they affect you. Though they are very high in fruit sugars, they don't have any fruit juice and say they have a low GI. They might be worth a try to see how you react. But making your own is a better idea.

Can someone point me in the right direction to find this recipe?
I looked in breakfast (by the Nessa bars)... did I miss it??

Thanks!

Oops, it was sweet potato not pumpkin. That's probably why you couldn't find them Jenski. Here's a link: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152316

OK. I saw that one and printed it out. Any reason why I can't use pumpkin instead of sweet potato? You made it sound so good being pumpkin and all!!
