Question Jeans for short girls that arn't ugly?

Hi ladies, I need some serious help.
I have been stuck in capri's and stretch waistbands for far too long, especially since I'm only 21.
I'm only 5'1, I'm 142 lbs, pretty big hips.
Let me tell ya they must not make jeans for girls this size.
I pick up a pair of jeans in a size 13 or so and find thay are always like a foot too long its rediculous.
I've tried going to petite sections of the store in like JCPenny and they jeans are so ugly. They are high waisted and just not youthful at all.
Anyone know of a place to find jeans for a short girl with a a big butt? lol

I hate the jeans in the petite section. I'm taller than you at 5' 3" so they are always a little too short for my tastes in the petites. I like to shop in the regular jean sections but look for ones that say "short" and usually like the way they fit. I got a pair of Levi's 529 Curvy Boot Cut at Kohl's the other day in the misses section and the short ones fit me well. I rarely find anything in the petites that I like. I'm 51 but their usually too matronly looking to me. Elastic waists, stuff my mom would wear.

I usually just buy the big size and alter them. I do a European Seam. If you don't have a sewing maching handy you could get them tailored for $15. It's worth it and they jean's don't look obviously seamed.

Try Applebottom jeans.
They're made for people with larger hips and come in all sorts of styles, shapes and sizes.
They are around $50 a pair if I'm not mistaken.

Good luck

Hi

I just joined so I could reply to your post. I am 5'3", and it took me forever to find jeans that fit when I was taking about a size 13 Canadian. I found American Eagle to have the best fitting jeans, and the good part is that I usually find them on the sale rack for about $20Cdn. Actually, no matter what size I am, I find them to have the best fitting jeans. Well, and levis too. No matter what size I am, levis always fit - cheap ones, expensive ones, they all look good.

Earlier up in the thread someone mentioned I think it was French hemming. If that is the style of hemming where you take up the extra fabric at the bottom of the leg and leave the original jeans bottom still intact, I found instructions on how to do that online. The method is super easy - easier than regular hemming - and doesn't show at all.

Oh, and the American Eagle jeans may give a bit too. All the pairs I have bought there have stretched a bit after wearing.

If you are in Canada - my all time favorite shop is Penningtons 14+

They have ALLL sizes of clothes - including petit's for height challenged girls

I also agree with the tailoring Even if you invest in a good sewing machine - the cost of it will save you money in the long run

I am short. But I HATE short jeans. Like if someone hems a pair of pants I WILL not ever wear them again.

Solution. I buy cheap jeans ($20), wear them until I ruin the bottoms of them from dragging, toss them out and buy a new pair.

Some of the BEST jeans EVER! I got are from American Eagle and the cut is called Boyfriend 77 - they were $30 or $40 but they had a short, regular, long length and they fit perfect. And I am hippy too. I like the regular length. EDIT to add: looks like they call the cut 'favorite boyfriend' now.

I'm barely 5'2" so I have the same problem with pants being wayyyyy to long. I'm all about the french hemming. I don't do it myself, b/c my sewing machine and I have a long standing feud but I do have a wicked seamstress who hems all my pants, jacket sleves and skirts for me. It's about $10-$15 a pair of pants and totally worth it.

After all this jean talk I had to order myself a pair! haha

I ordered myself a pair of these - http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product...=1432_7261_526
And found a coupon code online for 15% off - just a tip, these ones are not stretchy so I recommend ordering a size up from what you normally wear. When they have the 1% spandex in them I can wear a 12, but I ordered a 12 in this kind before they are a bit tight. So I ordered a 14 regular this time, fingers crossed they fit cuz I am still trying to work my way into those 12's, lol.

Are there any Fashion Bug stores where you are? I was in one just the other day and found that they now have jeans designed for different body types. I am short with no butt (really, very straight up and down) and have always had a hard time finding jeans that fit well, but I was able to find a couple pairs that don't sag in the behind. They have styles for regular and plus size women with more hip and butt as well, in tall, regular, and short lengths, some with stretch and some that are just plain denim. There were also some with the fancier designs on the pockets and legs, as well. I was also pleased that they were on sale for only about $20 (not sure what the regular price is). Happy shopping!

Yes, I agree...American Eagle has the best jeans. I have a pair that I just love. Apple bottoms are great too. Torrid's jeans are pretty nice too. I have a few from there..and they sell Apple Bottoms.

I use to hate jeans for the same reason. I'm 5"1' and my hips were 40" around when I was 140 lbs. I found the best jeans for my shape are
Frankie Bs, Joe's, and True Religion (the flip pockets minimize the size of your hips). I know these are more expensive, but they are worth it especially if you can find some used or find a jean outlet near you. I end up having to get all my jeans hemmed, but it's only a few dollars. These jeans were made for girls with big round bums, thighs, and small waists.

I don't know if they still make them, but XOXO were about $40 and they fit well, and also a friend of mine loved Gap jeans for the same reason.

I am 4'9" with a large behind. I've always bought regular jeans and had them hemmed and the waist cinched.

you could try Lane Bryant. You might be a bit small for them, but you also may fit into their size one jeans. And they have difft styles for every shape.
