Default Does your extra weight seem to really stay in one area of your body?

My weight really seems to like my stomach. I swear, I look pregnant when I let my stomach hang out! My legs seem to look normal/thinnish. Why is this? Why do some parts of the body seem to collect fat more than others? But I think it's different for different people... like some people really gain it in their thighs or hips or butt, etc.

I remember from high-school health class that you can't lose weight in just one area, but I'm going to try and build up my stomach muscles. Can anyone help me shed some light on this mystery? Do you feel like one area of your body is particularly heavy?

Everything I eat goes straight to my stomach.

Have you been tested for Insulin Resistance? Sometimes, those who gain weight around their midsections have a condition called insulin resistance. There is a forum here dedicated to this very subject: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=70

I know you are interested in South Beach, SB is supposed to be good for people who are insulin resistant.

Very interesting. Thanks for the link!
That's good to know about SB, too. I ate a SB omelet for breakfast this morning. I'm not crazy about eggs... but I just keep reminding myself that this time around I'm trying harder.

I have lost 0ver 60 pounds and the only area that the fat stays are my upper arms and boobs. I have MASSIVE upper arms... you can see the muscle on the top but the fat hangs.. they are actually larger than my calves in inches... Yah gross.
Then again I have always had fat arms.. even when I was 125 my arms were always chubby so I guess they will be the last to go... *sigh*

My belly is my problem as well. My arms have gone down, my neck and face, my legs are awesome (I always get comments on how muscular they are), but my belly? Still flabby. My back? Still flabby.

I'm beginning to think that I'm going to have to go lower than 145 to get rid of the belly.

Generally my extra weight likes to hover between my neck and my knees.
