Default Facial Hair. What to do about it?

How many of you deal with facial hair and what do you do about them?

At the beginning of my puberty facial hair started coming out but they were to thin so make-up could cover them. 4 years ago they started becoming too thick and as I have PCOS and I am quite dark skinned they really show. I have them on upper lip, all over the cheeks and chin. Quite horrible.

My first deal with them (I take contraception and glucophage btw) was thermolysis and it was really fine. The specialist would shave the hair and shoot the light. It would take the hair 4 weeks to re-grown and they got fine (but still not fine enough to be covered). Later on the treatment changed with the hair getting removed by sugary wax that irritated my skin to oblivion.

My next option was waxing with a special brand called Nair. Anyways it had chamomile in and it was not sugary wax so it really did miracles with me (and I had no scarring). I had a lot of stock of this stuff brought here from back home but I have run out of it. Now I am facing a problem as the brand cannot be found in the UK.

I hesitate to use chemical facial-hair creams as I am afraid of skin irritation. I have an electric epilator at home for body and face but 1. it says individual face hair (and mine are not what you can call individual) and 2. I 'd rather not risk facial scarring.

How do you deal with facial hair ladies? Has anyone ever used an epilator (I have an aunt that loves hers but her skin and mine are totally different). I resent having to face the next 2 months hairy.

Pah at least it was good to vent.

I personally like the sally hensens brand. I do not know if they carry that in the uk though. Maybe you could try ordering that or nair off anonline store or ebay?

Nair is an italian company, so it is a bit difficult to find. Will search for Sally Hansen in here and see.

Thank you. ^.^

You may be able to order it from the states. It is still sold in drugstores here.

I used to get my facial hair professionally waxed. Sometimes I would do it myself with Sally hansen (available at grocery stores). Now, I only need to do my brows. I get them professionally shaped and wax in between with Sally.

I have trouble with professional wax as it is mostly sugar one, which irritates my skin (ironically only my face. The rest of the body has no problem with it). Back home my mum used to do my facial wax with Nair, the brand above, or with bee-wax and I had no problem. It really is a pain having to figure this out. I gonna check the Hansen website or EBay to see if I can have it send to my place quickly.

I just pluck and shave whenever I need to. Very annoying!

Hmm I used the epilator with some bee-wax. Ok, to be honest my face loved the epilator (did not irritate and became really silky like). That said, it does not take all the hairout easily, so I used wax for my upper lip and cheeks. At least my face is presentable.

Weirdly I found the epilator so painless on the face but excruciating painful for my hands and legs so I am sticking to wax for them.

LOL... this is going to sound really unsexy. I used to bleach and wax on occasion, but now I just shave (bc the hair doesn't grow so fast). Of course I just have a few on my chin and near my ear (on the side of my face up top) so it's not like I have to take off a full 5'o'clock shadow.

If my husband calls me over to check out something... and I'm washing my face in the AM... I actually say to him "hang on honey... I'm just shaving my beard." HOW HOT! I guess we have passed the honeymoon phase

On the other hand, the hair that used to grow above my upper lip, I used to bleach, then I started use Nair... I probably used Nair for 2 years. HAIR STOPPED GROWING THERE! It's been about 7 yrs now. Can't you order the Nair you used to use online and have it shipped to the UK?

Also there is electrolysis if you are desperate.

If you really like Nair, why don't you just ask your mom to buy you a bunch of it here and ship it over once every few months.
The shipping can be a bit pricey I suppose, but if you only do it now and then it shouldn't be too bad.

I am only staying in the UK for another 40 days before going back home, so by the time my parcel will arrive I will be back to Cyprus.

Malibu: Lol so sexy with the shaving! I can't even stand the idea of electrolysis. Maybe it is because in the mention of it I have the picture of a demented crazy psychopathic woman holding a stick full of electricity over my face.

ive waxed, electrolysis (ouch!!!) and now laser hair removal (not so bad)... the thing with PCOS is my Doc said that the hair will continue to grow back bc its a hormone thing. Ive started taking Metformin 500mg twice daily (for 2 months now), and now actos 15mg once a day (just started) to try to get my hormones under control...also starting birth control next month. the laser hair removal is only maybe 6 treatments, ill be going for my 3rd next week. totally noticed hair is way more sparse. i go to a plastic surgeons office and he only charges me $60 a treatment! totally worth it! good luck

I use an eyebrow razor (I have 3 problem areas) to keep it tidy. I'm on spironolactone now. I plan on getting laser hair removal in the future and hoping weight loss will also help. My mother and sister also have problems with facial hair but Im the only one with PCOS (they are not overweight).

I get it removed at the center using laser treatment (IPL Ellipse I believe its called) at first I used to get the treatment done every month, now almost every three months for my upper lip, chin and a few hairs on my jaw. If you're not on medication for PCOS you'll probably not notice a major difference, I'm currently on Diane (BCP) and it seems to be working
