Default new girl in town

Hi All. Another newbie here. I remember browsing the message boards a few years back, but this is my first time as a poster. I am 35 and live with by boyfriend type person (12 years and counting) and our three wonderful cats. All but one of the creatures in the household has weight issues (lucky kitty). I am an avid long distance runner and ran my first marathon two years ago and another one last year plus a bunch of shorter races (5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon). I have a crazy job with crazy work hours. I am also learning to play the banjo.

I am looking to lose 50 pounds. I have already dropped 6, but I lack direction. I started by loading a program onto my palm and so far that is going sort of ok. I am not in love with it, but it is something. I am great at the whole exercise thing and pretty bad so far at the food thing (somewhat related to my schedule, but that is no real excuse).

So that is me. Nice to meet you.

Hi there . . . . . . glad you found us and really hope we can help. You'll find lots of support and ongoing encouragement around here, Chickie.

I'm the opposite of you -- usually pretty good controlling the food and rotten getting the exercise done.

Hi Slowmo! I'm with meowee- food is easier to get a grip on than exercise! I think that if you can run marathons, you can do anything you set your mind to! Good luck with your plan, and welcome aboard!

Welcome to 3FC! I love the sound of a banjo, myself...hope you'll have fun with that!

There are all sorts of forums here for specific diet plans and ways of eating. If none suit your style, you can try the Calorie Counters forum, and see if that seems a better fit.

You might want to check out the Cool Runners thread on the exercise forum. There are other distance runners on there, and they're a great bunch!

Anyway, hope that helps, otherwise, just jump in where ever you feel comfortable. Hope to see you around the boards.
