Default Antibiotics

Hello, i have just started today and had my first shake. I do have a question, i am currently taking antibiotics which i am supposed to take with food, which this is not. Is anyone taking any medication that is requiring you to take it with food? If so have you had any reactions?

I really think you need to check w/ your Dr.. I don't think any of us, whether we are on meds or not, should give that type of advise. Each person and each prescription is different and you need to be really careful. Your Dr. should know your individual needs.

Good Luck and keep in touch.

.."Take with food, which this not..." Actually, my doctor told me that meds that you take with food only need about the calories of a half banana, not a full meal like so many heavy folks think... so a medifast meal, at 90-100 calories, would be enough. But I would definitely register at mymedifast and ask the Nutrition Services people, maybe even list the specific antibiotic.

Remember too, do not bump your message up after you have posted it to NS, because they answer them in reverse order to get the oldest one first, and that will actually delay your response.

Let us know what they say, I've a tender stomach when it comes to medications, so more information is always good...

and, Welcome!!

or you can call nutrition support too if you want an answer right away

Usually ATB can be harsh on the tummy so they recommend to take with food so your tummy lining is coated & the atb wont cause the nausea.

Not sure if you've contacted NS w/this question but I thought I'd share my experiences w/Medifast & antibiotics. I had to take various antibiotics at various times during my weight loss phase & the problem I ran into was that the MF meals contain a high amount of calcium & all of the antibiotics did not work well w/calcium so I ended up splitting my L&G into two meals in order to take my pills & have them work effectively.

I also wanted to mention that antibiotics did mess w/my readings on the scale so if that happens to you don't get discouraged. My body still kept losing weight & I ended up w/larger loss numbers once the antibiotic regime was finished.

You can always ask the pharmacist where the prescription was filled. They often have more knowledge than physicians do on many medications.

Just take your antibiotics with your Medifast Meal! It is food.
