My daughter and I have loved to watch surgery shows for years now...I saw gastric bypass LONG before I had it. I have seen my father's Mammory Artery Bypass done both in open chest and rib entry...I have seen face and eye lifts of all sorts... rhioplasty...reconstuction of face, eye sockets, post cancer, traumas and genetic deformities. So when I say I think I know what kind of plastic surgery I want, I mean I am sure what kind I want! AND I've seen them all done. I just don't know IF I want to go through all that!
Here is my wish list:
Circumferential abdominalplasty with PA lift
Brachioplasty (an arm lift)
Inner thigh lift
Breast lift with live fill (no implants...my Aunt is a breast cancer survivor)
Liposuction of waist, lower and mid back (if I still need it after I lose the rest of my weight)
Free cell tissue transfer to the buttocks (Brazilian butt lift)
Now if only I could spell all that!!!!
Not that I could pay for anything at the moment. But what is a wish list but something to wish for! Oh...and I think the scars afterwards would be horrid! SOOOO...I would want a very pale, delicate tattoo of vines and flowers that look like they are intertwined around the scars! That really appeals to my artistic side...I never thought I would ever say that a tattoo would look appealing!
I have a friend that is very against all plastic surgery...she's lost more then 300 lbs with WLS and says she looked fine after she exercised and gave it time. I feel a bit self-centered about the whole thing but I would like to have this chance to feel a little more "normal".
Any thoughts you might want to share?

If it weren't for the risks, I'd get plastic surgery in an instant. I'd get some lipo in certain spots and I'd finally get those boobs I've never had. What is live fill, by the way?? I'm scared to death to actually go through with it, but I want it badly.
My mother worked for a plastic surgeon for many years and helped many people change their looks and lives. Go for it - you can also find practices that will finance your surgery (it will probably feel better than a new car)
Choose wisely and take your time. The only thing she (Mom) ever complained about was that people did not follow post-op procedures and hindered their healing and results.
It's called "live fill" because it uses fat pads or cells from an area like the under arm, retaining the cell structure and sometimes it's blood supply (unlike lipo where the cells can be damaged), and moves them to a reconstructed area, like the breasts. It doesn't give that "up and round" look but it adds projection without an implant. I have seen it done to enhance the buttucks as well by moving hip fat pads.
I fully plan to have plastic surgery after I lose all my weight. I'm fairly lucky in that my arms and legs are ok, but I have the saggy tummy skin that simply is not going to firm up.
I plan to give it ~a year after I reach my goal and I am working on it by making sure I use moisturizers and care for my skin carefully. But I also know that for it to go back to being firm and flat is pretty much a pipe dream w/out surgery!
So .. yeah. Someday. It will probably be my 42nd birthday present to myself ... if the timing works out right.
I have cohesive gel silicone breast implants and can say 100% that with all my extensive research prior to my surgery a year ago there is NO increased risk of breast cancer from them. fact!
I dont think i will need anything else once ive lost weight, although i may need something done on my lower abdomen with regards to lipo or skin dependant on how it shrinks back.
and by the way, tattoos ARE beautiful. i have alot of them and they are as much a piece of art as the mona lisa.
Live fill sounds excellent! I have plenty of fat elsewhere that I'd be more than happy to donate to my breasts. I've always wanted implants but I'm scared I'd end up with that capsular contracture that happens sometimes. I can't imagine going through all that and spending all that money only to have to get them removed or re-done!
I'm with you OnceUponADrive! Contracture means another surgery that MIGHT help or might not....
PrettyPaula...first, cohesive gel implants! A great answer to the silicone leakage problem...Good choice! AND you're right, they are not shown to increase the risk of cancer...my problem being I was told by the tech here in Boise that when I get my mammograms, they have to MOVE the implant to get a good picture! OUCH!! IF I have a choice, I would rather have the live fill.
I think that my idea for a tattoo would be beauitful! Such a great way to add beauty to horriable scars! It took me this long to come up with an idea that I would like to have on me permenantly...now I think I have!

watch some of the "botched" documentaries...been "fixed"so many times, looks like a butcher job, horror show time. nope. i think we should work on loving ourselves as we are and spend that money on beautiful clothes! Plus w/my addictive personality, I'd prolly get addicted to plastic surgery and end up looking like those scary Beverly Hills old women that never know when to quit!
I've seen some real horror stories, too. The ones I have seen are attibuted to infection, previous surgery scars (which can really effect the healing process) and inexperienced doctors. All I can say is...research, research, research! Doctors, types of surgery, problems that can arise and how they can be prevented...and be sure to disclose EVERYTHING to your surgeon before any proceedure.
I would be doing this for me...this would be a way to make up for some of the damage I did to myself. And you're right, I think that self-exceptance and a healthy self esteem are important things to strive for before you have any elective surgery.

i have to have an apron-ectomy - way too many yeast infections under there. it's a big problem.
when? ah well. that's the question. i gotta sell my house, find another place to live, clean out mom's house, get into graduate school, sleep. find a home for the poor dog. and THEN maybe i'll be able to do it!!!
I'm battling a big, big hernia, a lot of ab flab and well my puch is flabby. I'm trying to put off having the hernia surgery until I'm a year to 18 mos. out and then see if the insurance will throw in the rest. I've had two hernia repairs done, one during hyster and the other during the WLS. If I can get the PS paid for with the rest I'm in. Now about the rest......I hope a big wind doesn't hit me or I'll look like a flying nun, but it will be batwings. Boobs: I've got a little problem there. I've lost so much of my boobs and had to go in for a mamo and an ultrasound and have been referred to a surgeon because of a lump. I'm hoping it is where the fat has redistributed itself weird. When the doctor talked with me, I opted for a biopsy first, but was discouraged and they seem to think the way to go is a lumpectomy. I'm trying to figure out my options. If I have to be put out for the boob thing then I'm gonna ask them to do the hernia at the same time and it is way to early for the tummy tuck, so......I'm tired of surgeries, anesthetic, oh and pain. My thighs are a droopy, spongy looking mess. I think that I need to just have them go up on top of my head and pull everything UP! LOL!!!!
