Smile Newbie.....just started on Xenical

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and i'm after some advice and support really. I've been overweight on and off most of my life, but since having kids the weight does not want to shift. Can't use the excuse of "just had a baby" as youngest has just started primary school!! so decided it was finally time to shift the fat. I visited my doctor, not convinced that I would get any help, but was pleasantly surprised. Very supportive and suggested I try Xenical. Is there any one out there who has had success on this, and if so, what experiences have you had and have you any good tips. I'm currently weighing in at 15st 6lb and want to get down to about 11st, so need all the support I can get please.
I look forward to chatting with you and sharing our dieting experiences.

Welcome N. If you do a search on my user name you will read of my success on Xenical. I've lost over 4 stone in 9 months on it and have lost a total of 80lb in one year. My GP has also been very supportive and I see her monthly.

Any specific question please ask here.

Kitty, Thanks for your reply. Your weightloss is fantastic, what an achievment? You must feel and look great. Have you had any nasty side effects with Xenical? I've been reading some horror stories and am waiting for them to start. I suppose the trick is not to eat too much fat - if it goes in, it's got to come out!! Any idea of how much fat you can eat with each meal without having side effects, and how long after eating does the fat start making it's way out?
I'm really excited about starting this programme, (i think the doctor's enthusiasm and support helped greatly). I feel that I've been overweight too long and have missed out on loads. Although I do have a great hubby and great kids (most of the time!) sometimes my weight is all i can think out, so it will be good to get some of this lardage off at last. Have decided to weigh in once a week at the local swimming baths when youngest is having his lesson and see the doctore every month. It would be great to keep in touch, are there others out there also taking Xenical??

There was a few of us posting and there is a very long thread in the UK Chicks forum. However I haven't heard from them in a couple of months and I did start a thread last week to get them to check in but nobody replied.

My tolerance level for fat is about 45g a day but no more than 25g at once. I would suggest you keep it under 20g a meal at first just so you can see how your body reacts. No major horror stories from me but bloating and wind are my main side-effects but that's a small price to pay for the speedier (for me) weightloss. When I have had higher fat meals it actually takes some time for the effects to show 36-48 hours generally.

Hope the Xenical helps you achieve what you want.
