Question What are your rewards?

I used to reward myself with food/booze. Now I take long looks in the full length mirror and actually like what I see.

And there's also shopping - for clothes, shoes, accessories. I happened to start losing weight about the same time I started making some half-decent money. I haven't really had many "girlie" things for about 14 years.

Next thing is going to be some sexy beautiful lingerie. I will wear it with my new "fun" summer shoes - 2 pairs of wedgie heels for less than $50 at Payless -

I love to give myself non food rewards. I have done smaller rewards for 5 pound losses and bigger ones for 10 pound losses (not losses all at one time obviously!).
I have treated myself to new clothes, manicures, pedicures, and a massage.
The motivation works for me!!

I reward myself with skincare/makeup stuff...I LOVE all different kinds of lotions, bubble bath, nail polish, makeup, etc., and it feels like I am pampering myself. It's a great non-food treat. I used to reward myself with food, too, but I am working hard to teach myself to look elsewhere when I need a "treat."

Lightbulb no reward but piece of mind...

This one is really hard for me! Until recently, I never realized that I was such an emotional eater! Good Day = Food and Booze/ Bad Day = Food and Booze. Everyday, I have to remind myself that I don't get a "special" treat for working out or staying OP!

As I get closer to goal, I've been thinking about what I'm going to "gift" myself. I plan to buy a bright red wrap dress to rock this summer! (Cue "The Lady in Red" soundtrack now...)

I don't give myself rewards...that little number on the scale is my reward...and also the way my clothes feel. That's the absolute best!!!!!!!Oh and let's not forget the "Have you lost weight?" I just love those!!!!!!!

Since I'm just starting out and having a rough time I made some mini goals last night. For 10lbs - I get to buy a bunch of new socks. I adore new socks for some reason...I told my hubby if we were rich I'd wear new (or close to it) socks every single day.

For my 20lbs - I get The Office Season Two. Not great motivation for exercising, but I've been wanting it for a long time.

For my final goal - DH is buying me a new pair of designer jeans and I'm going on a $300 shopping spree for new clothes. Once I reach that goal, I just have to maintain for the rest of my life!

I haven't been giving myself regular rewards, but I DO plan on buying a couple of new pairs of pants and some new workout clothes when I get below 150 and have stayed there for at least a week or two.

WhoIwannabe - I completely agree...

I feel like the numbers on the scale and how I feel when I wake up in the morning is my motivation... Nothing's worse than waking up and feeling like I didn't lose.. I love the mornings when I am excited to get on the scale and check my results...

Yep.. Then comes the happy dance in the bathroom!

well before i used to reward myself for big losesses like 20lbs... but my new target is to reward the smaller things.
im trying to loose 10lbs in 8 weeks (should be doable hopefully) because im off on holiday so that itself will be a good prize, but because i stress eat and im trying to do this over my student exam season, i have 3 goals set up...
1) work out 6 times in 2 weeks get a small prize (probably be some new jeans as i only have one pair that barley fit!)
2) if i have lost 6lbs by week 4 im allowed a treat (probably some clothes for holiday)
3)and if i have lost an inch from my tum/legs by week 6 i will get a treat (this one is very hard but hey gotta aim high!!)

i think the treats are keeping me going at the moment in some respects.because when life is hard, i always think, WHAT IS THE POINT PUTTING STRESS ON MY BODY ASWELL AS MY MIND? and i normally give up..
so this time i have a good reason not to!

I had set up 2 goals for myself this year, I wanted to hit 150 pounds by my birthday (May 30th), starting in January at 168. If I did this, I could buy a cute bathing suit from victorias secret or urban outfitters (I love the suits those websites have but they're usually expensive). If I failed I could get a suit, but of the target or walmart super cheap variety, just to have something to swim in this year. Anyway, I hit my 150 pound goal a week or two ago, and victorias secret actually has a sale right now on bathing suits, so I managed to get away with spending only about 40 bucks on a suit I really liked! Best of both worlds, I'm super excited I didn't have to pay 80 bucks or 100 or something to get a swimsuit I love.

My prize when I hit goal (140 pounds) is to buy an entire outfit from anthropologie. I love their clothes, but they're so pricey so I never buy anything...but I've been saving up some money and once I hit goal I'm buying something fabulous that will keep me motivated to maintain and still fit in it!

My reward was clothes. I'm pretty close to my goal weight and sometiems feel like the pounds I want to lose are vanity pounds. So for now, the pounds lost is the reward for me.

I love getting new clothes, so I think my reward would definitely be shopping, plus giving away my old clothes that don't do my new figure justice!

And to echo what batmom said, getting some tighter workout wear might help keep the cycle going. I shudder at the thought of wearing shorts or spandex at the gym now, but if I can tone down my stomach and thighs, I would love to be able a tight racerback top or something.

Default rewards

I reward by

buying my favorite fruit even it is not in season here - just today for fluctuating but staying with 1 pound down I bought blackberries.

I am motivating myself right now

with hanging a bathing suit that I really like that isn't my size in front of me while I exercise

and I have a pair of pants that I would like to buy one size down
