Default Scared of the scale

I am scared of the scale because I am afraid that if I get on it knowing in my head that I have been working so hard that I will be UPSET because it doesnt reflect what I think it should.

Anywho, how often do you weigh yourselves?

I got weighed about 3 weeks ago and I am thinking of waiting until my next doctor appointment in the middle of June

Threw my scales away yesterday -- I'm too obsessed and, if they don't say what I want, I eat, if they say what I want, I eat.....

So, I do WW and weigh in every Monday with this, which will have to be enough for me -- I would love to be someone who can weigh every day just to track my ups and downs, but at this point, I am not capable of doing this

It's really hard to think this way but... losing weight is not only about the number on the scale. I too am a bit scale obsessed but my goal now is to only go on once a week for my WW (online) weigh in. I feel good the rest of the week knowing I stuck to my plan (and that I ACTUALLY planned ahead!), that I went to the gym, that I'm feeling more energetic and positive...these are ALL things to take into consideration during the process.

If you are scared or worried, try to change your thinking to all of these other things and weigh in when you feel is best for you. If that means at your next doctor's appointment, so be it. No one says you have to get on the scale every day/every week.

If you are having more energy I bet you are doing well!
I am scale obsessed and I weigh myself twice a day. I wish I could weigh less frequently but I also feel the need to track myself.
I weigh in at WW once a week so maybe someday I'll just weigh in once a week.......too paranoid of gaining weight at this point in my life though....

This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about!!! I'm glad it's already having effect on you, it's bound to show up also on the scale!

It's nice to see that number too, but, again, if you are scared, then just wait until you are really ready.

Those darn scales! Grrrrr.

Fat isn't gained or lost in a day, but over several days. Most daily fluctuations are simply water weight. So it's easy to drive yourself nuts over daily fluctuations.

Most programs like WW have a weekly official weigh-in. If you are someone who obsesses over the scale, then weekly would be the thing. Some folks only weigh once a month!

I know it's easy for some folks to fool themselves unless they check from time to time. Waiting until the middle of June--well, it's up to you, but suppose that you're off track and you weigh the same in June? I think I'd be really unhappy to find that out then.

So, maybe set yourself a "weight date"?

I actually rarely weigh myself. I take a good look at myself naked in the full length mirror about once a week and use that as my scale. I find that with all the weight training and fluctuations, I get too depressed when the scale doesn't move for me or it goes in the opposite direction that I want it to. I find I can see the subtle differences in my body week by week and it motivates me to keep going more than the scale does.

That is a really good idea, I like the sound of that. I would like to see the numbers on the scale go down but what is more important for me is feeling great, being healthy and looking good. I think I will try that

i weigh myself when the mood strikes me. so it is very irregular. i actually like it because i have found that if i weigh myself weekly and do not loss anything for a couple of weeks i get frustrated and want to give up. i like to see progress. i am very impatient so i am actually surprised at how well i am doing.

Ok Ok well I admit I weighed myself yesterday. My scale said 225. When I weighed at the doctor about 2.5 weeks ago I was 140.

Im glad I weighed myself because my scale and the doctors scale is different plus it was cold outside when I went to the doctor and I had on shoes and a sweater and big pants. So now I know what I am naked lol.

Count me among the obsessed. I weigh myself once per day, which some would argue is too often. I see a lot of random fluctuation due to water retention, exercise, etc., but I think weighing myself also keeps me on task. Evaluating the fit of clothing is great for some, but I like seeing concrete numbers much more. I think it's the scientist in me. People should do what works for them. If that means weighing once a day, once a week, or once a year, then do it.

I am a compulsive weigher, if you will, but I am extremly terrified each and everyday (or several times a day) that I step on that scale. I just feel so disappointed if I see that I have gained anything at all. That then results in a binge!

I am one of the obsessed too :-) Weigh myself each day in the morning, but I know the feeling of being terrified to step on it when you are trying to lose weight.
