Default If you went to college, what do you regret most about the experience?

I regret not being more active in clubs at school or immersing myself in extra-curricular activities.

Not learning earlier about credit/credit scores/money management. I'm recovered mostly at this point, but wish I'd had those skills when I started out!

...not hanging out with more people my age.

I hung out with the "Mommies" and now they are busy with their families and new teaching jobs. No time to spend with old friends.

I regret taking Russian. It is a very hard language and at that age I just didn't have the discipline necessary to learn it. In the end, it just brought down my grade point average. I wish I'd taken Spanish instead. It would have been an easy A and would have at least been useful.

I regret having to work so much that I missed out on some of the "normal" activities. I also regret not taking advantage of the interviews and the prospective employers that came into campus.

I'm still in college. I really, really want that whole "dorm" experience and to go to a close college. The one I'm at right now isn't like that at all. So, I'm transferring to Sweet Brier! Yay!

Not following my heart and trying too hard to live up to certain expectations. Trying to please family and everyone BUT myself.

I don't regret it per say because I'm a stronger person today from it and I ultimately got where I've always wanted to be in life, even if it caused me a lot of depression. In the end, it was worth it though. I'm going back in September to FINALLY chase after *MY* dream, not what my family wanted.

I was so afraid people would look down on me for my career (since I was studying Veterinary medicine and I am now a Makeup Artist, and soon to be Hairstylist). I still get the "ohhhhhhh..you studied THAT" response, but I've learned to accept it because I'm living out a dream I always put on the back burner and finally making it happen.

Ha I love this thread - I teach college biology, all those slackers that skip classes shesh! I kid of course, I missed so many classes during my undergraduate studies to the point where during my masters degree I met a lecturer I had never seen before yet I had taken one of the courses she taught in, I had just managed to skip everyone of her classes

I think my biggest regret about college is not understanding that degree structure better and what courses I could take, what courses I should have taken. I also wish I had realised sooner that my teachers were human and approachable!

My biggest regret is that I wish I had made more friends in college. Although even if I could do it over again, I don't know that I would have been any more successful at making friends. I did extra-curricular activities and things, but my college was so antisocial. Everyone went home on the weekends... it was weird.

My second biggest regret is that I allowed myself to get to my all time highest weight ever in college.

Not going right after high school. Well, I did go - I guess I should say not FINISHING right after high school. I did eventually finish - a spouse and four kids later.

That was just stupid.
