Woo-hoo!

It's nice to be back in this fresh week! I wanted to post about an AWESOME Linda's Low Carb adaptation I tried tonight. I've moved from Induction Atkins to OWL--I want to try adding in 5 net carbs per week, at least to see if I can be up around 30-35 net carbs/day and still be in ketosis. With my newly decided graduation, I decided to try out some Linda's Low Carb recipes! I made her pumpkin bake yesterday and I made some sweet BLUEBERRY "Improved Revolution Rolls". I went a TAD overboard sampling the baked yummies I made from Linda's site. But, I wanted to share the one really awesome one with you!

I took the "Improved Revolution Rolls" recipe and changed it up a bit:

- 4 egg whites
- 3 egg yolks
- 3 oz cream cheese
- liquid stevia to taste (I wanted a sweet-ish batter)
- 3/4 c. blueberries frozen

I then followed the directions on the site--whipping the whites into a foam, folding in the yolk/stevia mixture. I bought these mini-muffin tins, and I filled each half way with the mixture and popped about 5 blueberries into each, then plopped more on top. When they were nice and brown, I took them out, topped with some butter and MAN were they good! Like blueberry angel food cake. Note to self: PORTION CONTROL!! They were good, but I think I'm going to keep all baked goods to the post-dinner desert category. Two of my meals today were pumpkin bake, and one of them was blueberry rolls. While my net carbs weren't out of control, my calories were.

This gets back to following one of my primary rules: pre cook those proteins! I knew yesterday I wasn't going to have any today...but I figured that I'd be going out to dinner tonight and I'd just cook when I got home. Not such a good plan--I kinda junked out all day. So, I'm now cooking all my proteins and I'll be right back on track tomorrow, for sure. I'm not worried; I lost two pounds this week, I've been getting my exercise in and now that I've got all my proteins/veggies accessible again, I'll be a-okay.

I've missed you ladies. It's good to be back, even after only being aloof for a week. I can't wait to hear all about everyone!

Hey there, Azure! Happy Monday!

V. inspirational - I know that my eating habits have really been slacking off during the holiday. This is a problem with me - I'm okay when I've got a routine, but in the holidays it goes to pot, I forget about my supplements, meals happen haphazardly or not at all, I eat sugarfree chocolate, don't bother to pick the carrots or baby sweetcorn out of stirfries... badness. Badness. Badness. Routines are VERY important for me - I definitely need those boundaries and limits and things to be in place. Ack.

I think maybe when I'm back at school I'll start Induction again, hardcore. Hmm. That might help. But I need to learn some skills for IMPOSING routines on myself in the holiday! Because otherwise in the summer it'll be the same damn thing all over again!

My scale is not cooperating. I've decided I'm eating too many calories even if they are on plan foods. I'm going to try to keep my calories below 1700 for the next 2 weeks to see if that makes a difference. The grain thing didn't seem to make a difference at least if I'm eating some ridiculous number of calories.

Yesterday at the coffee hour after church I found out about all kinds of options for yoga here in my community. I used to do yoga so I'm going to try to check into that in the next couple of weeks. Plan to have signed up for something but the end of the month. I also booked myself a real vacation for August. I'm renting a house at the beach (Gulf Shores, AL) for a week. I can even take the doggies so will save me on kennel cost. I miss them when I have to board them. It's sort of like going on vacation and not taking your family.

I've been experimenting with custard/flan recipes trying to find the perfect one. When I find it, I'll let you know. I may have to invent my own. Taking Tammy to the vet this morning for testing. She had a rough weekend.

Hi everyone,

I had a busy weekend. We now have the new floor almost completely finished in our computer room. Next, we will start on my son's room. (which I've now cleaned his room and done his ton of laundry since he is gone to the military).

I've had some problem this weekend with nausea but don't know why. I guess just a stomach bug of some kind.

I'll check in later, gotta see my tax lady today to file a revision (due to my DH's XW being a total B@#$H!

Hey, Fay! It's SO hard to create self-imposed routines and boundaries. It's always easier on me when I'm in a regimented sort of living situation--it's easier to get my work done, eat right, exercise, etc. When I've got nothing but free time, all my good intentions seem to go to pot, too. Let's work on that, eh? I'm sure we'll figure it out.

Petra, you may be right about your calorie intake. I'm a big fan of watching your calories and your carbs while on a LC diet. Mostly because I come from a habit of over-eating, even when I'm not too hungry, I can still manage to eat too many calories on LC. When I've got my menu mostly planned for the day, and I know how many calories I want to be taking in, it's easier for me to maneuver around--and I'm always still never hungry. Yoga is really awesome, too. It's so relaxing and de-stressing...I should really do it more often, myself. Congrats on the vacation!! You'll have to let us know how it goes

Lily, it's so nice to see you back. I see you're still truckin' along with the home renovation! People as motivated as you seem to be about doing it yourself just floor me. I get overwhelmed with huge projects easily, so I can't even imagine trying to tackle a home makeover on my own. I'm sorry to hear you're feeling icky, though... a few months ago there was a stomach bug going around here, but it seems to be dissipating. Best of luck with the tax lady!

Hi, I'm back from the races and, no, we didn't win. We never really do, but as long as we don't lose more than we afford that's fine. It was pretty fun and I was pretty bad about staying OP, but you all don't want to hear me confess. Instead, I'm starting over again one more time. Back to induction for me!

By the end of last week, I was still officially still doing induction, but was allowing a few more carbs (veggies with dinner) and managed to creep out of ketosis. I think I really need to stay real low carb — one salad a day, a little half and half in my coffee, and a couple peices of cheese in the evening — to remain in Ketosis. I can kind of tell without the Keystix, but probably I need to keep using the keystix just to be sure.

I'm waiting for wed to weigh (my weigh in day) so I don't really know how much damage I have done to myself, but it could have been worse. I don't eat a lot of sweets, ever, but the pizza and beer wasn't the best idea.

Lily-I'm probably the over concerned physician here but sometimes heart issues can present with nausea. Maybe you should check in with the cardiologist. If your okay, can you come over and work on my house next? LOL

Yes, my new project for the next 2 weeks is to try to control my calories a little better. For the past couple days I've eaten about 2500 calories although my carbs havae been fine. I don't think I can lose weight that way. I think I'm track for an 1800 calorie day today which is a little higher than I would like but we'll tweek until we get there.

I got out of work early today because our transcription service was down and I couldn't do my dictations. I decided to go by the yoga studio and check it out. They were giving away a free week of classes as a promotion for April so I signed up for the rest of April and May. If I like it, I'll do the 3 months at a time thing.

Tammy is at the vet. She is having her blood work done today for pancreatic insufficiency. Not sure how long it will take for that to come back.

I have to face the music. I gained weight this week and I changed my ticker today. It may be wing sauce but I'm still going to have to claim it at this point. We'll see how I do controlling calories and adding the yoga back into my routine. I'll tell you more about yoga class later. I went last night.

Okay, so what did I do yesterday?

I made refrigerator chocolate-peanutbutter fudge, from 2 large squares of unsweetened chocolate, maybe half a cup of regular peanutbutter, a drop of coconut oil and a dash of sweetener.

And between last night and this morning I ate it ALL.

Man, I'm like Binge Queen woman! And then today, for lunch, I ate a can of chicken/vegetable soup full of starchy vegetables and pasta!

!!!!!

HELP! I THINK I MY BRAIN HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY STOLEN BY ALIENS!!!

Hello Everyone! Once again it appears I missed some drama. Sorry about what happened Azzie. I'm at a loss. I worked all weekend and got home after 9:00 last night so this is the first time I have had to check in.

Petra: I will be thinking about you and Tammy today. Hey, some of us WANT to go on vacation without our families...tee hee just kidding.

Lily: You my friend are a never ending renovation machine. I think you need your own reality show and should travel the country...you need to come to my house first kay'? Our good Dr. has scared me a little about the nausea so check back in o.k.?

Fay: I also do better with routine. In fact, the busier I am the better I seem to be about following my plan. When everything is topsy turvey scheduled meals are out the window for me or, like yesterday, I don't eat anything at all.

Lynnie: Sounds like you had fun at the races even though you didn't win. I will be checking ketostix today too because I did the no food naughty yesterday and TOM just wrapped up. My whole system flips out. Typically deep ketosis during TOM but with meal skipping, typically nothing!

Auddie: O.K. Enough time off for you. We need that strike to end now. If it doesn't I'm afraid you are going to start taking up wierd hobbies. Come one come all and see Auddies Giant Rubberband Collection!

Awwww sshhhhoooootttt. I have got to get in the shower. I'm so late. It is 7:30 here. I'm supposed to be leaving in about 10 minutes.!!

Actually I love me some blackjack . . . but since I've yet to get an unemployment check . . . my time there will be brief . . .

Determined to remain OP . . . been there b4 & the OP choices are amazing . . . Fay, you sound like me last week . . . I think its hormonal (or in my case NON hormonal!) . . . Just STOP . . . regroup . . . drink wah-wah & move on GF!
