Default You: on a Diet - March chatter

New thing to strive for.....I want to get below 160 so I can go indoor sky diving. Yep, that is what I am saying...I am scared of heights but I am also scared of being thin. I was watching Rachel Ray last night on TV and she went indoor sky diving and I thought......I can do that. Face the fears head on and change my life forever! Today I am cleaning out my closet and getting rid of the past which includes big clothes that I have been hiding behind and seeking comfort from.

Default You on a Diet: March chatter

Hi gals - it's a bit late, but here's our thread for March. I'm hangin' in here - things are busy at work, and in my personal life as well - DH is trying to get his parent's house sold and there is many complications to all of that.

Going to Florida next Friday for a long weekend - looking forward to some relaxation time!

Hi gals - how was everyone's weekend? Patti, Kim, how are things going?

Kim - what is "indoor sky diving"? How high indoor is it?

I've been super busy lately - DH sold his paren't house (finally - hurray!) last week, and we've been scrambling to get everything out of there. The basement is still full of junk, but we have until mid-April to that cleaned out.

We are going to Florida for a long weekend this Friday - I will be so happy to get away for a bit. Not happy about wearing shorts at my current weight, but I'll get over it.

Cindy.....I think it is a 22 foot drop....big turbine fans to lift you up and you wear goggles, flight suit and a helmet. They teach you how to handle your body so as to not get hurt. I will fly!!!!! I am excitied but extremely afraid of heights. Reinventing myself!

Dag.....I am up 2 pounds. I was hoping that I would be below 220 by St. Patty's day but that ain't going to happen since I am 6 pounds away from 219. I guess I will have to extend my goal. In the meantime....a friend told me about a web site where you download your picture and tell them how much weight you want to lose and give them 48 hours and they will send you your picture back which has been digital altered to show you what you may look like. The highest they will take off is 50 pounds. I sent mine in today so I am hoping to get it back before 48 hours but we will see. The website is http://www.weightview.com/.....and its free.

Hey gals - I'm back from my mini-vacation in Florida - 4 very short days. But the weather was beautiful and we had a nice visit with my sister and aunt and uncle.

I was forced to wear spring/summer clothes while there - it was 84F and a bit humid. I even wore a bathing suit! So, this was a huge reality check for me - I had to go to Wal-Mart and buy a few things in a bigger size just so I'd have stuff to wear - my stuff from last summer didn't fit This was a huge wake-up call for me to get off my duff and start making some changes in my eating and my exercise. I don't want to face the summer here at this size - I want to be where I was last summer, or even before.

So I'm motivated girls - I need a few days to get my ducks in a row and plan out my plan, but then I'm getting a move on!
Cindy

Hope you all are doing well!

Hi Carrie!

Glad you've come here from some support - we could use someone to help get us all chattering more!

Sounds like you are doing great - keep up the good work. Assuming you'd like a critique of your food today, here's what did not comply with YOAD:

Skippy peanut butter - I'm pretty sure the sugar is a bit too high in it. Try Smart Balance or Smucker's Natural for your next jar.

The Lean Cuisine - pasta isn't whole wheat. Check out their Spa line (light blue accent color) - those pastas are whole grain.

Pretzel bars - again, probably not whole grain. You want to avoid "enriched wheat flour" in the ingredients.

Barilla Plus pasta - a pretty good choice, but still not totally whole grain. This is a good compromise if you don't like whole wheat pastas, but I've found that different brands taste differently and have different texture. I hate Hodgson Mills (?) for example, but I love our local Hannaford brand of 100% whole wheat pasta.

Prego spaghetti sauce - I'm almost sure it has too much sugar in it. You need to find one with less than 4g of sugar per serving. It's my experience that local restaurant brands are low sugar, as are organic brands.

SF Jello/Cool whip - not really YOAD approved, but I myself have used it to get me through evenings that I wanted to snack. The main issue is the high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in the cool whip.

Please don't misunderstand my critique - I don't want to discourage you from what you are doing - this is all a great step in the right direction, and I found that moving slowly toward the "ideal state" of YOAD is the best way to get there. And if eating these things keep you on track and you're losing weight, then that's great.

Do let us know how you're progressing!
Cindy

Where has time gone?.......I was so hoping to be 100 pounds lighter when I started my journey in Dec. 2006...... A new bump in the road......will I drive around the bump or just ramp right over? My daughter has had the same boyfriend for 6 years....they started to date when she was 16. He makes a stop off at my husband's place of employment to ..... are you ready for this? ask for my daughters hand in marriage. AWWWWWWW Now the real deadline begins......I have a little over a year to get my weight off...... Cindy....you know what I am about to go through since you are a newly married bride! I know it's all about my daughter but I don't want to be fat for the pictures. I hate to get my pictures taken currently because I am so large and unattractive. Well, the race is on and the real battle begins. This is my first instinct......I am posting my goal weight all over the house. I am lucky because 140 is my target heart currently while working out so post it notes will be everywhere in my house, in my car and in my office. I plan on letting my direct employees know what my goal weight is so they can remind me if we are at a luncheon or if food is brought in for a meeting. Anyone else have any ideas how to keep me motivated and on track? Any suggestions are welcomed!

Wow - more weddings! Congrats to both of you on your daughter's engagements! What are the wedding dates? Patti - please do share some details - colors? theme? favors? I love hearing about wedding stuff!

Ok gals, let's get our motivation back. I'm happy to report one whole day on track! Not that I've been trying lately, but it's been a long time since I really tried. So I'm just happy that I finally kicked myself in the backside to get back on the wagon. I even walked a bit today! Hurray for me!

Gals - don't get discouraged if your progress isn't what you'd expected - even if you're losing slowly, or stalled, that's better than gaining, which is what I did. Look at how far you've come, and just think about how much better you feel now than you did back when you started.

Hey Cindy....oh my favourite topic!! hahah..... her date is July 26th,,,her color is sunshine yellow!! Shes having two attendants her sister is her maid of honour and her fiances sister is her other attentdant. Little niece and nephew are her flower girl and ring bearer. Its going to be an outdoor theme but inside....lots of trees (yes live ones we plan on cutting and bringing inside) , yellow calla lilies, tons of tulle and white lights. Im hoping to get a real *garden* feeling when you look at it. As for favors I offered to make some stained glass window catchers of little butterflies and dragonflies to keep going with the theme. So youknow what Im doing in my spare time.
We are gettting pretty excited about it..my dd is counting down the days now. I have 4 dresses coming in the mail to try on..Im really really hoping one of them is the one.. there is no stores around here soIm relying on online shopping.
Are you sorry you asked?? hahah..//
