Default Food Network

Any fans of the Food Network? Anyone wondering why Sandra Lee is still on the slot she's in, but Amy from the Next Food Network Star is on some obscure time slot? Gourmet Next Door isn't may favorite show, but you'd think they'd give her some exposure in some decent time periods. I think she's on like Sundays or something. I have to DVR it to catch it.

I don't really mind Sandra Lee TOO much, I just find it annoying how she matches her curtains to her clothes. And she can be annoying. Between the two, I think I'd rather watch Amy, though.

I hate Sandra Lee. With passion, meaning, and intent. Ugh.

I liked Amy, and hate that she is in such an obscure spot, but I don't think her test marketing did very well. Sandra, for some unknown reason, appeals to people. (and if she appeals to anyone here, I'm sorry...it's not you, it's her. She makes me batty. If you can explain the appeal I'll promise to listen with an open mind!)

To be honest, she reminds me of a little girl pretending to be on the Food Network while playing with her easy bake oven. It'd be cute if she were 10. I know she went through some awful crisis when she was younger, so I try to be understanding....

It also annoys me that Sandra Lee matches herself and the kitchen to whatever the menu is. Amy is okay, but kinda bores me. I tend to stick with Paula and Rachael.

I adore Food Network!

My favorite shows are:

30 minute meals
Paula's Home cooking and her show with the audience- can she ADD any more butter?
Diners drive ins and dives
Good Eats - Alton is a hoot
Quick Fix Meals with Robin Miller
Elie Krieger's show

Sometimes I'll catch Sandra Lee but honestly I think I mostly am watching her to see if she finally gets smashed on the air drinking one of her cocktails. I swear her tablescapes make me feel inferior if I *just* invite someone over to eat. noo I have to decorate too. As bad as Martha Stewart with that stuff. A few of her short cuts have been interesting though. I've watched Gourmet next door a couple of times and her show hasn't grabbed me yet. The first season's winner's show, the Party Boys never grabbed me either. But I do like the two shows Guy Fieri does.

One of my first cooking was watching The Galloping Gourmet, before he got healthy. I remember him cooking with butter and oh the wine.. lots and lots of wine drinking going on and he always invite some lucky lady from the audience down to eat with him. I mostly remember his face going into absolute raptures at everything he cooked.

Can't stand Sandra Lee! And I've never seen her cook anything I would make either. Some of it is just plain weird, unappealing combinations.
I went through a Rachel Ray phase, but I think I'm over her now.
Never did like Paula Deen much.
I enjoy Giada DeLaurentis, but DH enjoys that show a bit too much, so I avoid it.

I heart Alton Brown big time!
I also really enjoy Ellie Krieger.
Oh yeah, almost forgot Robin Miller. I've made some of her recipes and I like the approach. The only thing about her is those bug-eyes. Sometimes it makes my eyes water to watch her.
Iron Chef is fun too.

I love Alton. He's sort of my hero. I also love the Food Network Challenges, mostly because I love watching people cake decorate and getting cool ideas, and most of the challenges are cake-based. I used to LOVE Gale Gand's show, because I want to be her.

I watch Ina, but only to keep a count of sticks of butter. People talk about Paula and her butter/mayo, but Ina is just as bad if not worse.

I have the hugest TV crush on A.B. It's nice that DH understands, since we're both sort of geeks and Good Eats is the best cooking show there is for an engineer. DH got all excited when he started talking about the properties of metal on the knife show.

My mom used to watch the food network all the time about a year or so ago, and even though I started yelling at her to turn it off at one point so I wouldn't get tempted to make/eat whatever they were showing, we occasionally turn it on and it's still entertaining.
My mom and I are quite the fans of Alton Brown and 'Good Eats', and then the original Iron Chef was always fun to watch. We like Paula Dean, too, but also comment on the insane amounts of butter she puts in everything.

..Though I have to say, I'm more of an 'animal planet' person.

That's the Semi-Homemade woman, right?

LMAO - my co-workers & I sit at work watching that show occasionally just to laugh at what she "makes" and then, yeah... to see if she finally gets smashed off of those billion cocktails that she makes.

"We're going to create cinnamon wine... poor a glass of wine, add a stick of cinnamon... in fact forget the cinnamon, just drink the bottle."

"Buy a cake from the store, add some frosting. Now you have a frosted cake!"

Is... is she serious? >_>

I sometimes wonder what the other chefs on the food network think of eachother. I think Alton would have big issues with Mrs Semi-Homemade.

I also love Ace of Cakes. I wish I had half the talent that group does at decorating and carving cakes!

It's one of my favorite channels. But I don't always have the time to sit and watch it.

I learned how to cook by watching many food shows - the one I followed the most when I was younger was the Urban Chef. I think there was some sort of scandal concerning him though lol I can't remember.

I love both the original and American version of Iron Chef - it's amazing some of the concoctions they can come up with when faced with a certain ingredient - in fact that's how I got into Eggplant! Kat Cora was up against two yuppies from Los Angeles, and they both did very well... Kat won though LOL.

I like Good eats Naked Chef, Barefoot Contessa (who I admit makes some sinfully delicious meals that I would NEVER touch at this time during my weight loss adventure) and a few more.
