Default Wellbutrin Question

I know this has probably been asked several times but i am needing some help. Anyone who has taken Wellbutrin how long before you could tell if it was going to work or not?
I have been on it for 2 weeks tomorrow and i just don't know if it is helping or not. I get frustrated and so stressed because i just want something that makes me feel better. When i am depressed i end up mean and angry with the people i love the most. I am tired of being a mean person i want to treat others with kindness like they deserve.
Sorry if this has kind of turned into a rant. It feels good though to get it off my shoulders and talk to someone who atleast in a sense knows how i feel. Thanks for listening.

It took me about 6 weeks for the full effects to kick in. And truthfully I didn't really notice any huge difference myself becuase it was so gradual. It was people around me noticing that made me realize it was working.

I took it for about 8 months and then quit.

I know it's frustrating, but give it some more time.
I've been taking it for about 18 months. It didn't work "great" for me on its own, so my psychiatrist added Fluoxetine. That turned out to be my most perfect cocktail yet... I stayed well for over a year. I've recently upped the Fluoxetine a little, and I'm feeling good.
Hang in there... often you won't feel the full effect of a med for about six weeks.

Hi CherryAutumn, just today I started on Wellbutrin, as a switch from Lexapro. So I can't be much help to you, but I do hope that you start to feel better soon!!!

This IS a place where we're allowed to rant

CherryAutumn, it's now been one week on Wellbutrin for me, and I can honestly say that my attitude, outlook on life, whatever is so much better.

Now, it could also be partly attributed that I am exercising every day (well, have been doing that for a while) and eating much much better by keeping to 1500 healthy calories a day.

I used to be sooooo sleepy and drowsy on Lexapro - I could sleep almost anywhere. Truly. Getting a haircut; on a hard plastic chair in a waiting room; laying down on a large rock in the sun, LOL! I see that on Wellbutrin, it takes me alot longer to fall asleep at night. Hope that doesn't become a problem.

I hope it helps you

Wellbutrin did not for me during the 6 months I was on it. I have also been on Lexapro and Celexa with no change except for my weight. LOL! But today I started on Cymbalta. My doc said he son is on it and he is pleased with his progress. I also heard it is good for fibromyalgia, so hopfully I can kill two birds with one stone.

I'm on Wellbutrin, and I'm taking a 75 dosage, just in the morning. It's the two-a-day pills, I just take the morning one only.

I don't think it's actually done much to affect my depression. I'm on Effexor XR, 150 for that, which I dropped down to after 225 seemed to do the same for me as 150 after a month.

I think I'm doing pretty good now. It's hard because it's little things to change, but I am taking better care of myself, which is always a good sign. When I'm really depressed, everything just goes to pot with me and the house. I'm also a bit more social in going out than I used to be. I'm hardly a social butterfly, I'm pretty much a loner person, but I'll go over to friends' for the evening a couple times a month. It's a start!

CherryAutumn, how are you doing?

I have something to add about Wellbutrin. Boy, my sleepiness on Lexapro is GONE - it used to be that without exception, if I was on the couch, with a blanket, I would fall asleep. At 9:00 am, even after a good night's sleep, or 5:00 pm, or 8:00 pm. Whenever!

On Wellbutrin, gosh, I am eyes wide open until I get into bed...even after then. And I have found myself waking up many times in the night. I'm able to get back to sleep, but it sure isn't the Sleep Of The Dead that I had before.

When I wake up, I get up right then. No desire to blissfully drift back.

I had been taking the pill at about 11:00 am. But with the wide-awake feeling occuring at 10:00 pm, I wanted to change that. So last night I took the pill right before bed, thinking that the 'awakeness' would occur about 10 hours after. We'll see how this schedule works.

Maybe it will make me more productive, 'cause I'm not yearning for naps anymore (shrug)

Oh, my goodness! Holly, I'm so glad you mentioned that about sleeplessness. I'm pretty random about the hour I take my meds, and I've beening having terrible sleeps for the past four months or so. Waking periodically throughout the night.

I'm going to try switching things around... thank you!

CherryAutumn, I hope you're doing okay. And everyone else here.

I am so glad I was able to contibute something, instead of me always asking questions!

Okay, for two nights now I have taken my Wellbutrin 150 right before bed, so that's like 10:00 pm. I have not awakened in the night multiple times. So maybe that's the trick

I am having GOOD results with Wellbutrin!! I am optimistic, looking forward to the next day, planning chores, remembering my off-kilter sense of humor, and not wanting to sleep the time away. YAY Kinda makes me a little sad to think of the 'me' that was somewhere else for two years
