Default 28 days

They say that 28 days is a magic number for addicts. If a drug addict or alcoholic can stay clean and sober for 28 days they have a much better chance of doing so for the rest of their lives...the downside is that those 28 days are some of the hardest of their lives

I have a lot in common with addicts - I eat until I feel ill, I eat alone, I eat and feel guilty, my eating has started to effect my job, my friends, my family, and my health...so my ini goal is to make it on this diet for 28 days because I know if I can perservere for the next month of cravings and temptations I can do anything!!!!

So true. It will get easier before the 28 days though I'm sure. Everything takes time. Good luck!

The good news is for me, it was more like 2 weeks. Those first 2 weeks were absolute torture. It WAS really, REALLY hard sticking to my new healthy way of eating. But I stuck it out. I did anything I could think of to NOT go off of my plan. I threw food in the garbage, ran it under the water. I journaled, used the computer, drank lots and lots and lots. Kept lots of low cal veggies on hand. Some chicken broth. Hot tea. I kept myself incredibly busy. And I GOT THROUGH IT!!!! And now look where I am.

I knew if I stuck it out, that the end to my misery was near. I also got incredibly excited. I knew every bite of food I turned down would get me one step closer to my hopes and dreams.

But really, it got soooooo much easier after those 2 weeks. HANG TOUGH. It's hard - but no where near as hard as being morbidly obese. Not even close. Please keep that in mind.

You CAN do this. And you will not regret it for a single, solitary second. Good luck.

Your optimistic attitude will take you a long way to making it through those first 28 days, for sure! Keep up your positive attitude, and things will start to get easier far quicker than you think!

Good luck to you!

I think that is a great, doable goal. How is it coming? I think I will shoot for the 28 days also. Maybe that should its own thread or challenge! GREAT idea.

I am assuming that is lots and lots and lots of WATER although alcohol might take your mind off of food...

Hmmm. I guess I should have added that it was water. Alcohol and me never got along too well, so luckily that wasn't an option.
