Default 300+ Weekly Thread #1138

WELCOME!!!!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

HELLO ALL

Just thought I'd write a quick post to let you know I am alive and well I've not really been dieting, which is one of the reasons I haven't been posting. I am going to make a pig of myself over Christmas then step on those scales in January ready to take my punishment for not really dieting since around October, and then I will jump straight back on the diet and exercise wagon. I'm actually looking forward to it because I know without weighing that I have gained weight and I really don't like it

My skin problem is still active but isn't as bad as it was thanks to the meds I am on, so I am happy about that

I just wanted to come and wish everybody a wonderful Christmas and a healthy and happy

See you all in January, until then take care and bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi

Morning all! Great to see you post Ammi! Get yourself back here in January but enjoy the holidays!

I will be here sporadically this week. Hubby and I are flying to visit family early early tomorrow morning (we may run into santa!). In case I'm not here a lot, I wish you all a great week, and a great holiday (whichever you celebrate!)

I know it has been ages since I posted on here and the ones who were on here at the time probably don't remember me.

My highest weight was 759. When I first started posting on here I was in my 500's and I had lost 200+ pounds. That was about eight months ago.

Since then I started on Medifast and I have lost another 158 pounds, bringing my total weight loss to 383 pounds. Today I weigh 376 pounds. I have reached goal (the rest is just skin). I will be starting Maintenance before the first of January. I already got the approval from my insurance for the excess skin removal and my PCP is hoping that I will be able to get in for my first surgery in January.

Val: Yeah to getting your horses to a full board place. Looking forward to seeing you around more.

Ammi: Hugggggggggs.

Tarra: Welcome back and congrats on all the success. Liquid diets are something else. I lost about 136 pounds on one from April til August of this year. I applaud your ability to stick it out. I know they are HARD! How much weight does your Dr. think the skin will weigh? I am curious as I have lots of extra skin too but I also have about 151 pounds more to go to reach my goal weight.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you are all blessed and with family and friends this year. Okay, off to work now. Hopefully it is just half a day today!

Blessings and hugs,
Annie

Well, friends, the resolution rush is about to begin. I'm always a little more overwhelmed in January when we get lots of new members, like us, trying to take control of their lives. I am always glad to meet them, happy for anyone making a change, and I want to support and encourage each person. But sometimes I tend to post less because I'm afraid I'll acknowledge someone and miss others. I never mean to slight anybody, and fear of doing that makes me hold back from cheering people on. Know what I mean? Especially right now, when my own life is very cramped for time and energy. I'm going to do my best to hang in here, even tho I know I can't keep up with the current members sometimes, much less the new crowd. I'll do my best to keep it going for both new members who may soon become 'old friends', as well as for you and for myself. Am I making any sense?

To anyone out there who's lurking and thinking of joining us, getting a new start - PLEASE DO IT! We don't get to know each other in a day or a week, but it's so rewarding to come here and be part of the community, where people really understand what you're going thru. And just like at a party, you can't always mingle with everyone equally, but we all know that. Don't let the number of posts some days scare you - the most important post here is the one YOU write. We need to vent & express ourselves, and in doing so we often touch someone we don't even know is reading us, but has gone through the same things.

I rode last night. It was wonderful and inspiring and hopeful, and as always a bit depressing too, because I can't do it the way I used to or wish to - or plan to yet again! For the first time I put someone else up on Gabe - the girl (14) who rides my little morgan-arab cross. You should have seen her beam! I just had her walk him and practice some halts on the lunge line, but she was in heaven. Her eyes were like saucers several times, but her brilliant smile never faded. It was a pretty good gift, if I do say so myself. Her face was still lit like a Christmas tree when I dropped her off at home.

Diet wise, having a few days of utter disaster here, but I just can't beat myself up. Tomorrow is the last day of this I hope. At least at work they won't be pinning me to the floor, forcing a funnel between my teeth, and force feeding me chocolate any more. It's been a rough week, and although I started with great will power, it's not going well any more.

C'mon Wednesday! Next year I wanna go Down Under and spend the holidays with ZELMA. Then at least the weather and the menu will be more conducive to good behaviour.

Hang in there everybody!

Val, You said it all about lurking and joining and feeling bad not acknowledging some.
I only have a minute cuz Abu and I aer busy baking like crazy.
I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and to thank all for all my beautiful cards. DH said today, "Man, you keep getting stuff from everywhere!" lol
I stll don't have my aprons made, and I don't think they're going to get done. I've been so sick with that nasty cold stuff going around. Today is my best day, but I'm still coughing like crzay and real congested. So I try to rest between batches of cookie dough. It's good Abby is helping cuz I'm wore out.
Take care everyone . Have a wonderful holiday. I'll catch up with all of you when I can.
Hugs,

Hi everyone,

I've been having some bad eating days, too, and am just trying to hold on and not go completely off the cliff. Maintenance is already off the table, but limiting the gain to 5 lbs or less is what I'm hoping for. I'm trying not to eat too much this afternoon because there is a dinner party tonight and another one tomorrow.

Have a Merry Christmas. I hope you all have love-filled days and as little stress as possible.

Happy holidays all!!

I am ready to get myself going again. My goals (financial, home improvements, and health) have all had pen to paper for next year. DH and I are aligned and ready for 2008 to be a great year. I lost a little over 15 pounds this year. That means no gain, so that's ok.

With that, I hope you all have a fabulous end to this holiday season.

The last guests just left. We were to start at 1pm, so naturally 5 showed up at 11am. I didn't even have my makeup on yet. The turkey was done, so they started tucking in. We ended up with 19. What was strange, is that they were almost a different set entirely than came last year. A lot of people went out of town this year. We had a couple that would only sit inside the front door. They were scared being in a new place around new people. I didn't care if they wanted to eat in the pantry as long as they were comfortable. We went through 15 pounds of turkey, and 5 gallons of chilli. I'm tired, and looking forward to taking it easy tomorrow. I'm going to have my hot chocolate without guilt tonight.

Merry Christmas to all of you. Enjoy your day with family and friends.

I am up 4.5 lbs from my last weigh in - I am pleased with that since I threw sensible eating overboard while on the cruise. DH said he thought I did make some wise choices.

I too am ready to get restarted. Today won't be too bad as we don't have a big holiday dinner to attend, just a small sandwich buffet at moms. I had bookmarked some tools I want to use for 2008 but my DH somehow doesn't understand online shopping so I will purchase them this morning. Also the hospital close to us is starting exercise classes for larger women which include pilates, yoga and personal trainer - which is by a man who recently lost 170 lbs so he understands early limitations and small goals. I will sign up for that tomorrow - the yoga and personal trainer. I'm excited because the yoga is 1.5 hours on Saturday mornings - which can be a difficult boredom eating time for me.

Catherine - you are a gift to us all. Merry Christmas to you and Himself.

Angie - congrats on the written goals. Enjoy your holiday.

Johnnie - looking forward to shared successes in 2008. Happy Holidays to you!

Battle - it is wonderful watching your strength and confidence grow these past months. Celebrate today.

Debbie - so sorry to hear of your father-in-law's passing. I'm so glad you and Jim were able to get there. I had a better airplane experience - we flew Midwest and they have big seats just 2 across on all planes. I was so excited when the seatbelt snapped and I was able to pull it a bit. Unfortunately they serve baked on board chocolate chip cookies - on the way out I only ate one but one the way back I ate both. Your friendship and support are a gift to me. I hope you enjoyed last night. Glad to hear you stopped to visit your son, especially during the difficult time. Merry Christmas to you all.

Sandy - I did not do any baking at all. I'm sure the scale would have been up much more if I did. I also have a nasty cold, sinus thing going on. I hope today is everything you want it to be. Get some rest and drink plenty of water today. Merry Christmas.

Val - how great that is that you were able to share joy with your special Gabe. As I read your post a big smile crossed my face. As for the funnel between your teeth I've always wondered how it seems to always fit - never too small - like my jeans. Happy Holidays to you. I share your resolve for getting back to basics.

Sharon - enjoy the day with the kids and family. You have accomplished so much. Merry Christmas to you all.

Patti - great to see you. Celebrate the season.

Ammi - Merry Christmas to you. So very nice to see you post. I've missed your smile.

Annie - how sweet you are. What plans do you have for today? I hope you and Joel enjoy the day. We had a fabulous time and I know you will too when you go next year. We went to Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta which seem to be the main stops on the Mexican Riviera cruises. The excursions we chose were fantastic. I will post a few pics soon - when the boat stops rocking. The last two days we had rough seas so were weren't able to be on deck. Now I understand there are hurricane force winds - glad we are out of there for now. It has been so great watching you grow as you shrink these past months. Merry Christmas to you and Joel.

Heather - safe travels to you. Thanks for your support. Merry Christmas.

To everyone else I have missed - enjoy your friends and family today.

Hugs to all,
Carol
