Default Need video recommendation

I just found out about the Leslie Sansone walking videos. But, I'm overwhelmed by the number of choices. I'm hoping that you all can recommend ones to start with for someone who, at this point, gets virtually no exercise.
Thanks a bunch!!

Hi, Chocolate Rose!

Here's a couple of recommendations for a beginner (each title should be a clickable link to the item on Amazon.com or Ebay.com):

Miracle Mile
Walk Away the Pounds: High Calorie Burn

Another one I loved, though not a Leslie Sansone tape, was Susan Powter's Building Strength

Indeed, I can recommend any of Susan Powter's exercise tapes without hesitation for anyone, any fitness level. She's the absolute master of modifying!

Hi, Rose. I started with The Firm: Basics. There are 3 tapes. They mix aerobics with strength training, and they were the only video workouts I was able to do a year ago. (I had been a total couch potato.)

After I had done those for a couple months, I moved on to Leslie Sansone's 2-Mile Walk. This is the old tape, from the mid-90s. Not her new ones. (It's the one with a meter at the bottom that tells you how "far" you've walked.) This is a GREAT tape. It's extremely easy to do, and it's a good aerobic workout. You can stop after one mile if you like.

I recently got Leslie's 3-Mile Power Walk, and I found it actually a little too easy. The 2-Mile walk is just a better workout, I think, even now.

For more fun, though, I recommend any of Richard Simmons' workouts. His "Sweatin' to the Oldies" (first one) is great, and that one was more my speed initially. All his oldies tapes are good for beginners. Leslie is getting a lot of publicity right now, but her music is BORING. If you'd like a little more spice and a lot more fun, try Richard.

Good luck!

Lauren and Slutbunny,
Thanks for your feedback. I'm going to go ahead and order some of her videos. I need to get my tush moving! I was all set to buy a treadmill but dh was layed off so this is going to be my poor woman's version of a treadmill.
I read some of the reviews at Amazon and they were all really good. I'm motivated and ready to go!

Default Just ordered the 2 Mile video

I'm really excited about this! I got a pedometer for Christmas, but I've been putting off walking outside because it's so darn cold up here (I just moved to Michigan). I can't seem to motivate myself enough to do it. I think the tape will be just the right level for me. I'm glad I checked out this post!

By the way, I first checked for the video on eBay and it was pretty high ($15+ for some of them, even older ones than this title), but Barnes & Noble (bn.com) had them for $10.99 each. This price beats Amazon, as well.

Sarah, I ordered 3 Sansone videos from B&N.com and they were $9.95 each plus free shipping. If you order 2 or more items then the shipping is free!
